No more excuses in Buffalo. Also, it's kind of a shame that Montreal didn't get Svechnikov. Perfect kind of player for them to hype, then run out of town.

All kinds of relief. I couldn’t watch it in terms of the embarrassment if we got a lotto pick.

Would have been a nightmare had they won a top 3 pick. From a Flames prospective, that could not have gone any better. Vancouver and Edmonton got the shaft, we didn't win (and gift the Isles) and the top 4 picks will go out East, Arizona didn't improve.

Couldn't have gone better.

I'd like to have kept the pick and won the draft in a perfect world (in which we miss the playoffs)

Feaster screwing up the 2013 draft (aside from Monahan) and the Bouwmeester trade are big reasons for the lack of offensive depth this past season which was instrumental in the team missing the playoffs
The Flames definitely would have been better off right now if Klimchuk and Poirier were impactful young players at the NHL level right now, but really there weren't any truly impactful pieces to take at that point. Burakovsky has been around for a while, but even he isn't a consistent contributor.

You gave Feaster (or any GMs) too much credit if you really think he is the one that knows which prospect to draft. They have professional scouts for a reason.

as for the reason for missing the playoff, the lack of contribution from 18yrs old Sam Bennett and the 4.5M FAs were bigger factor.

In a perfect world, Feaster doesn't focus in on only 1st round picks, and instead takes viable youth. Things could have gone a lot differently moving forward (I.E no Bennett or Chucky), but who knows how this team looks.

That 2013 draft was ultra hyped, but it's looking only a few picks in the 20's will amount to much. Hell, we have 3 of them and they're all waiver fodder.

G Veini Vehviläinen has gone undrafted 3 years in a row now. Really big question mark why's that, but if he's available later rounds, he's definitely worth a pick. A lot of people are saying he should have been playoff MVP this year in Liiga.
Veini Vehviläinen
Why the hell not. I'm of the opinion that all picks from round #5 and beyond should be used solely on Finnish goalies and Swedish defensemen.
