Jets will need to become masters at late first round drafting (hopefully). Lots of incredible players picked there. Teams like Anaheim seem to frequently hit home runs in the 20-30 range.

BPA Center or D. No more wingers needed

You can say that again

I really wanted Veleno all season(due to his playmaking abilities and overall game) but I doubt we have a chance at him now, at the pace he is at now he will be the 2nd pick(I think Svechnikov and Zadina have more offensive upside though but Centers do have more value and especially if they have a great two-way game) in the draft. Now I’m hoping for Kupari... But all that being said I could only imagine having a power play that contains Powerplay specialists like Laine, Veleno and Vesalainen...

I think our defence is fine, Niku should be our 2nd LD behind Morrissey in the next two seasons(Samberg might challenge), and Samberg and Kulikov and. Stanley can fight it out for that Top 6 LD spot... On the right side it gets blurry because of age, Byfuglien is really old but Myers is still really good and should be able to take over as the Top 4 RD while Poolman plays the Top 6 RD role(as Trouba is obviously in the first pairing, unless we move him). There’s allot of optimism to be had but the performance of our current players and prospects have gave us that in all fairness and if all goes as planned all we really need is a future replacement for Little...

Ducks have done a good job with late 1st’s.

Yeah they are an excellent late 1st drafting team. Though they seem to be one of the only teams that ever holds onto them. Blues and Rags have had some decent late 1st picks but sometimes trade their picks away. Red Wings are pretty decent late 1st drafters when they keep it.

Daximus what are your thoughts on McIsaac? He's another dmen who may be available when we pick but there seems to be a pretty split opinion on him.

His production looks pretty solid with 37 points in 53 games.

There seems to be something missing when I watch him. Great skater and not bad defensively but he makes some bad reads and odd decisions when under pressure. Might not be a horrible pick where we draft. If the Jets want him it's because they feel he can develop past his deficiencies.

That’s a really good summary of McIsaac Dax. have mooseheads season tickets and there was huge hopes for him going into the season, and although he hasn’t disappointed, I still expected more.

He plays D like he’s an offense-focusedDefence man, but then his offensive isn’t quite there yet, meaning he can sometimes look lacking in both ends. Tons and tons of potential and he’s got the skills to grow, so I’d be happy if the Jets got him late first.

Yeah I wouldn't hate the pick at all. I might prefer other guys but if he's the one they go with he'd likely be our best d prospect right out of the gate which is nice. I think a kid like Alexeyev wouldn't be bad either. Big kid, smooth skater, lots of potential. Not sure how the org. Feels about drafting Russians that high though.

Jack Drury is a kid who is generating some hype. Just set a USHL points streak record. Playing for Waterloo. 5'11 184lb center with NHL bloodlines. Son of Ted Drury and nephew of Chris Drury. Plays a hardnosed style two way style. If we want a center he might not be a bad late 1st pick.

Dax, why do I not see Evan Bouchard rated higher? Big, RHS Dman who outscores pretty much every other eligible Dman. Curtis Joe at EP says some very good things about him. Looks like he should be a top 5 pick from that.

Can’t go wrong with a Drury. #intangibles #clutch

I think Bouchard's scoring has actually improved since London sold off a bunch of their better players too.. He had a run of 13 points in 5 games though which I guess will do that.

I wonder what it would take to cement himself above Boqvist/Hughes.

I'm just wondering if there is some kind of 'character' issue or something because his ranking doesn't make sense on the surface.

Edit: That is some of his rankings.

I have him rated as a top 10 pick. Some publications have issues moving away from their rankings. On more fluid publications he's usually in the top 10. Great skater, loves to jump into the rush, great passer. I think hes better then Juolevi ever was.

The reason I think he may be on the Jets radar is we have a pretty good eye for USHL kids and his coaches and teammates really pump his tires as a high character/high work ethic type and a locker room leader.

Yeah, I went and looked at a couple of more places and found quite a spread in the rankings. McKeens has him at 28. If he is still there when we draft I would be all over that one - running to the podium.

I am really wanting Serron Noel(if we go deep in the playoffs), the guy looks allot like Wheeler when I watch him. He’s extremely fast for his size and he’s huge and on top of that he’s one of the best on Right Wingers in this class with his overall talent. Wheeler could show him how to use his tools and maybe we find another high quality Winger.

I’ll here some noise for saying I want a Right Winger but if Roslovic moves to Center(and I hope he does) and Noel pans out as a good pick than we are set, tbh we don’t really need anything other than another goalie(Helle backup plan) anyways(you can’t really draft Goalie talent as well), so why not make sure our depth stays everlasting.

Nothing wrong with drafting a winger, provided that the BPA is one. I, for one, am very intrigued by the thought of adding Bokk to the prospect pool; he seems like an amazing prospect.

Then again, the opportunities to acquire cheap but good defense are few and far between, so drafting defensemen early makes a lot of sense too. Still, I'd spend our first round pick on whoever the BPA is regardless of organisational needs. The rest of the picks can be used to address needs.

Then again the kid line could just get murdered. Not hyped yet. Kupari hasn't been fantastic.

I'm a huge fan of Kupari, he just needs the minutes/PP time and I feel he could run with it. His linemates have been depth wingers all year outside of one game he was centering Bertrand. I'm not allowed to make my more detailed thoughts public, but I think they could make things happen together.

Winnipeg Jet Jett Woo dream is dead i guess

Woo is out again for concussion symptoms, 3rd time this year. He's dropping like a rock in the standings. Some even have him in the 2nd round now. If he can't get back in for the playoffs he may get passed by quite a few teams. We definitely still have a shot.
