3. Ottawa Senators - Adam Boqvist

Ottawa opts for a potential Karlsson replacement over Zadina

4. Arizona Coyotes - Filip Zadina

Arizona gladly scoops up possibly the best goal scorer in the draft at 4.

5. Buffalo Sabres - Brady Tkachuk

Buffalo gets a guy they can staple next to Eichel for a decade.

6. Vancouver Canucks - Evan Bouchard

Vancouver takes the best defenseman on the board, looking for their future #1

7. Montreal Canadiens - Jesperi Kotkaniemi

Montreal 'reaches' for a center in Kotkaniemi, although I wouldn't be surprised if Kotkaniemi is ranked in this range come June.

8. Edmonton Oilers - Quinn Hughes

Edmonton gets a defenseman to add much needed skating ability to a blueline lacking it.

9. Chicago Blackhawks - Oliver Wahlstrom

Chicago gets a top forward prospect to compliment Jokiharju on D.

If the draft played out this way, I’d have a hard time passing on Wahlstrom and Dobson at 7.

The Isles would take Veleno or Lundstrom over Farabee. The need for a center is greater than a wing. And they well might be tempted to double down on D by taking Smith in this mock.
