Every year there's a mock draft done by the team boards of HF -- here are the results of 2015, 2016, and 2017. Rules are easy: just pick the player you want your team to draft based on who is still available; "trade the pick" is not an option

But this is also considering the fact our mock draft pick at 6 is a defenseman. If we got a forward there, I'd get a defenseman here.

Samuelsson, he can be the big steady guy in our future top four. Paired with apparently in this case we have Boqvist and Hronek, both guys he compliments well.

Alex Alexeyev. Big defenseman who can skate, play a physical game, and has offense, too.

I would probably go Alexeyev if this is how it goes down, but I like Mcbain and McIsaac here too.

Went with Johnny Tychonick. I like his attitude and think he has good upside.

I've waivered with the 1st choice; I've bounced from Boqvist to Bouchard to Dobson. I've even considered Hughes and Brady T.

I have been resolute with taking McBain with the Vegas pick. McIsaak would be my 2nd McChoice.

I can't help but wonder how much different this top 10 would look if done today instead of a few weeks ago. Just based on my impression of the conversations over the past week or so, I feel like Boqvist probably would no longer be the pick for us, assuming nothing else changed 1-5.

A lot changes in a month, apparently. This was before the news was confirmed about his concussion.

I guess I never ended up voting.

Interesting to look those old Mock drafts...

At 2015 we did got Tomas Chabot as #19 overall. Evgeny Svechnikov went at #17 to Winnipeg, 2 picks before us.

At 2016 we got Charlie McAvoy at #16, but there was no Arizona-trade. Cholowski didn't go on 1st round, but on recent re-drafts he could be.

At 2017 we got Timothy Liljegren at 9th and he did slide as far at #17th for Toronto. I think Michal Rasmussen at #15 for Islanders is a nice steal... oh wait.

Every year we have picked a defenceman, just shows how desperate we are after a need.
