Best of luck to the Monarchs! I watched three hard fought/hard played games and one that featured two very tired teams, and in reality it could have been the Royals coming out of this series alive. The Monarchs got two lucky calls from the refs at home, game three could have gone either way(except for the non call/blood), and last night they just had a wee bit more energy than the Royals. Now, I think they will have a very hard time making it out of the next round since there probably won't be enough time to rest and recoup, but I could be wrong.

The Cyclones win a see-saw battle in Game #3 in Cincinnati, defeating the Komets 7-6 in OT. The Queen City fans will get its 3-game weekend after all.

It was never in doubt. Just toying with the Komets.

Wish I had gone out to the bar with my buddy after the game. He ran into the Komets coaching staff and shared libations with them. Said Graham was a blast.

Seeing as ADK and Worcester can’t wrap up any earlier than tomorrow, I think they’ll be fine.

Cyclones get back Justin Danforth who was 28g31a (59 pts) in 44 games before being called up to the AHL. Had he spent the full season in the ECHL he would have led the league in scoring and in all likelihood been named its MVP. He was named rookie of the year.

It's a series changer. Fort Wayne can't be very happy with this news.

Did Danforth even dress for Game 4? I didn't notice his nameplate when the Cyclones warmed up on the end of the ice where my wife & I were sitting Saturday night, nor did I see him during game play. Some offensive spark was sorely needed for Cincinnati. :help:

He did play. #24. Our coach decided not to play him with Schultz. Why I don't know. Schultz was second in the league in scoring and he and Danforth were lethal when paired.

Had a few scoring chances and looked decent enough to me. He hadn't played in roughly 3-4 weeks due to some type of injury (don't know what), so he may have had some rust to shake off.

Fort Wayne limited the Cyclones scoring chances a ton compared to the Thursday night 7-6 game. Thought that Jesse Schultz (#12) tied it up with about 30 seconds left but Houser made a spectacular save.

Hope you and the wife had a good time. It's going to take almost a miracle for the Cyclones to pull this series out.

We both enjoyed the hockey game, thanks, and the arena staff was as friendly & accommodating as during our previous visits. Fans were well behaved overall as well, for a Saturday night crowd. Gotta give props to the large # of Komets fans in attendance, who at times managed to drown out the rather small hometown crowd. They do "travel well."

If the Cyclones have any chance at the miracle you mentioned, they're gonna need several of those Houser-like reactions to Schultz's shoulda-been-a-goal. Johansson played a fundamentally solid Game 4 in the Cincinnati goal, but the whole team is gonna have to take it up two notches. We'll see how that goes this afternoon.

Cincinnati gave it their all, but they used their all up by the time Game 5 reached the 3rd period. Congrats to the Komets & good luck against Toledo.

The good news is: I finally added a Cyclones jersey to my collection. Made it worth the trip.
