If we finish with a top 10 pick, we should definitely go for one of the top D: one of Dahlin, Boqvist, Hughes, Dobson or Smith

Need to mimic other successful budget teams like Nashville and Anaheim and make sure our D is elite, now and in the future.

True, and they are much easier to parley into a highly skilled forward.

Is the top of the draft this hear supposed to be higher than last year? I get Dahlin>Hischier in terms of hype, but I dont get how the next 7-8 prospects are more hyped than last year while putting up worse stats for the most part.

Doesn't look like a stacked top 10 like in 2015 or 2013 as of right now.

Dahlin and Svechnikov > Hishier and Patrick, but the 3-10 ranked guys have similar upsides IMO.

the 3-5 in this draft is also better than the 3-5 in last years draft.

Boqvist, Tkachuk, Zadina > Heiskanen, Makar, Petersson

in my personal opinion.

Think anyone in the top 5 can come in next year and improve this hockey team. Obviously Dahlin and Svechnikov are the dream.

Zadina would be so nice to have in the top six.....
what he is doing right now in his first year of North American hockey is amazing.

A dynamic offensive defenceman that can carry plays with the puck on his stick. A highly mobile and nimble skater that moves with fluidity, balance, and confidence. Utilizes an active stick and creates turnovers frequently. Could be more proactive in his own end, but has shown progression in understanding lanes and reading unfolding plays; most of his best defensive work comes through the neutral zone, as there is a lot less time and space to work with, and it is in those moments that Boqvist shines. Offensively, Boqvist is electric; he has the toolbox of a top line forward. Slick puckhandling ability paired with excellent vision and positional awareness makes him a dangerous threat every time he is on the ice. He also takes advantage of the attention and bodies he draws towards himself in creating space for teammates. All-in-all, Adam Boqvist is a complete offensive defenceman that knows how to get the puck from point A to the back of the net, and can make it happen all by himself.

Boqvist is basically 2008 Karlsson.

Not really.

44P in 31GP in his 18YR old season (he's a '99) is good production, but hardly amazing.

His pace is far below what other Halifax star forwards like Ehlers, Drouin and Meier were able to produce at the same age.

Been watching some prospect highlights and could definitely use an Elite Offensive talent like Svechnikov or Zadina, even more so then a Dahlin imo. However, should we win first overall Dahlin would be the obvious pick and we can always move him or Chabot down the line for an elite forward.

Boqvist/Dahlin/Svechnikov/Hughes

Any of them and I'll be pleased.

Not looking like he's the obvious pick at all

If this team somehow lands #2 overall and Svechnikov gets skipped I will f***ing shoot myself.

Miers was a impacted by Ehlers though, didn't improve his draft -1 season just kept pace when he lost Ehlers as a team mate, he was also in the Q longer and didn't have to adjust a new ice surface like Zadina is now.

Not the 2018 draft, but Jack Hughes looks amazing.

What are the chances we pick 9th in this draft keep the pick to draft the next Lazar and have our 2019 pick win the lotto.

:p

Obviously really early, but is Hughes projected to be a #1 guy in '19. Lafreniere looks like he's going to be the guy in '20 based on his numbers this season....
