The Hurricanes will open their 2017 preseason schedule at Buffalo on Sept. 18. The following night, Carolina will square off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena in Tampa before returning to Raleigh to host the Lightning at PNC Arena on Sept. 20. After a road game at Washington on Sept. 23, the Hurricanes travel to Edmonton to open a two-game set against the Oilers. The first game will be at the Oilers' home arena, Rogers Place, on Sept. 25, while the second will be a neutral site game between the clubs at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Sask. Carolina wraps up its exhibition schedule with a home game against the Capitals on Sept. 29.

It'd be neat if one year they could play a game in Charlotte.

If I was in charge of the Hurricanes, I would consult with the State Fair authority and then announce that our pre-season home games were going to be played in Greensboro, Charlotte, and Greenville SC with the understanding that the State Fair would take place a week or two earlier so as to not conflict with the start of the Hurricanes season. #problemsolved

There's no way they'd move the State Fair to accommodate the Hurricanes. Far too many factors involved, not least of which is that the dates for the fair have already been chosen all the way out to 2022 and we still don't even know the Canes' fall 2017 schedule yet.

There must be something I'm missing. Another game as the 'home team' in Canada.

Seriously, I'd pay to go see another game here in Charlotte. 1 game here in 20 years of playing in NC. But nah, lets play more games in Canada.
