maybe teams should start having the pitcher stand in front of the plate instead of backing up the plate like he's supposed to on a throw. it's the runner's responsibility to touch home plate after all.
Something's different about Kenley this year. He was already good but it just seems like he's an automatic strikeout now. The best part about this game is that I didn't see a large contingent of stinking Cubs fans in the stands like you normally would.
Nice to see Maddon ranting in the post-game. If it was the other way around he'd be defending the rule. Besides, the Cubs didn't get a hit after the 4th (or 5th?) inning, it's not like that call cost them the game. Typical Cubs. If they lose, it's always because of something.
Wonder how Maddon would've felt if Culberson, when realizing Contreras blocked his path to the plate instead of trying to slide around him just decided to truck Contreras, probably hurting his leg based on the position he was in.
I also love Maddon saying in the postgame he disagrees with the content of the rule, like that matters at all. Yeah, I disagree with the content of the rules that my team has to take 4 balls for a walk instead of 3 like slow pitch softball but rules are rules and I just have to deal with my team needing to take an extra ball to draw a walk.
