I wonder what direction New Jersey will go in at #1. They seem somewhat set at forward, I think they go for that defenseman, Heiskanen.

Ray Shero makes massive mistake if he even consider draft Heiskanen 1st overall selection instead of Patrick or Hischier.

NHL GM's not pass franchise level center to get two way defenceman.
Only idiot GM takes Heiskanen 1st overall.

And this isn't offence against Heiskanen he's really promising d-man.
But if he would be true 1st overall candidate he would have been 1st overall speculations whole season.
Not just then when Grant McCagg started hyping him best defenceman prospect since Doughty,Hedman and Karlsson.

Defensemen play bigger minutes and neither Patrick and Hischier are a surefire #1C.

Yeah.
But the point was that consensus TOP2 has been all season long Patrick and Hischier.
And if / when BPA is center that teams GM must take center in that situation.

As cool it obviously would be to see Heiskanen going 1st it won't happen.

Yeah, I think the Devils go with Hischier. The Flyers get lucky and get Nolan Patrick. A potential #1 centre to go with all those franchise defensemen.

Out of curiosity is there anywhere online that have the analytics based ratings? Just curious to see their take on players. I believe from reading a few prospect threads Suzuki seems to be the analytics darling of this years draft but that is all I got.

I don't know about ratings but if you check @zac_urback Twitter feed he has plenty of analytics based commentary on this class.

Basically, they prefer younger players and primary 5v5 points. They look at shot rate a lot too.

At the NHL scouting combine:

How can a guy like Aleksi Heponiemi (5 foot 11, 148 pounds)
have same amount of pull ups than Nolan Patrick,
who is 1 year(ish) older, 6 foot 3 and 200+ lbs,is he still injured?
is he 200 pounds of nothingness?,or should i just ignore
the results of this NHL scouting combine, because it doesn't
have real value.

Of all the gategories, only push ups where Nolan got into top 10,
for example, this Heponiemi finished top 6 in 4 different gategories.
- did he not enter other than that "event" ?

Hischier got most pull ups (3 more than Nolan Patrick).

It's easier to lift 148 lbs as compared to 200 lbs. Heponiemi and Patrick are probably similar in strength when compared to their weight.

Although, the Oilers passed up on Sam Bennett in favour of Leon Draisaitl partially because of pull-ups and that seems to have worked out for them so far.

When I was 20 lbs lighter I could do double the pullups as I can do now. Much easier when you're lighter.
