The Chargers may have relocated to Los Angeles, but Phillip Rivers did not. He and his wife Tiffany have lived in San Diego for 13 years. With eight kids, their roots in the community run deep, and considering all the alternatives they realized the best option for them was staying put.

So Rivers set about trying to figure out how to make that work. But any way he sliced it he’d have to commute three hours each day to and from Costa Mesa. And in order to do all the work he needed to do for the team, the commute would have to eat into Rivers’ family time.

Then Rivers found the perfect solution.

After googling “mobile offices southern California,†Rivers came across a company that customizes SUVs for lawyers and directors. Now he is the owner of a $200,000 customized SUV with a pair of leather recliners, a mini fridge, wifi, and a 40-inch television that separates the front seat from the rear cabin.

Now, three days a week, a chauffeur drives Phillip Rivers and backup quarterback Kellen Clemens to Costa Mesa in Rivers’ SUV, and they use the three hours in the car to watch game film.

Players should want to opt for the neutral site and not give up the bye week

The problem is the Dolphins already gave up a home game for a London game, so I really doubt they wanted to give up another one. Honestly, I'm not sure why Thursday in Miami was not an option. The NFL has done this on other occasions (though I think Friday may have been the day it was moved to, and Friday night would be too close a call, weather wise) I guess the NFL does not want any other game opposite the Pats/Chiefs game, but it screws the Bucs & Dolphins out of a bye week thru no fault of their own.

I'd say the logical solution would be to just play the game in New Orleans or Philly like what's being suggested.

It kinda sucks you lose the home game but whatever, way better for the players since they keep the bye week.

Or alternatively, play the game thursday night? Irma's trajectory doesn't have it arriving until Saturday night. Gives them plenty of time to get the game in and then get the hell out.

Week 11 makes the most sense.

This is just football. Some things in life are more important than football and these guys should be more worried about their families right now than providing sports entertainment.

No it doesnt. Just move the game to a neutral site, that makes the most sense. Taking away the bye week away puts the players' health at risk

The NFL should do everything in their power to make sure the game is played this week.

So play the game while hurricane Irma is in the process of hitting their community, family/friends and houses? Do you think you'd want to play or work a thousand miles away while a major hurricane devistates your city? Players health could be at risk if they had to play this weekend with their minds elsewhere. There is no perfect solution but you can't control mother nature or expect the players to act like emotionless robots.

If you actually care about the players health you should ask the NFL to get rid of the stupid Thursday night games.

So, this is the explanation why the NFL did not move the Dolphins/Bucs game to Thu/Fri & it makes total sense:

The teams had hoped to play that game in Miami on Thursday or Friday, but the dire forecast plus the more pressing demands of first responders necessary to staff an NFL made that untenable.
The Dolphins are now assured to have the league’s most grueling start to a season. Even if they don’t play this weekend, they’re on the road for the next three — in Los Angeles, New York and London. They now have just two home games before Nov. 5.

It stinks for the bucs as they are on the road anyways and would rather okay in week one and get the week 11 bye.

I would guess the dolphin players prefer to play this week too. Sounds more like a business decision than a football one.

I agree that it makes little sense to move the game up since the people of Miami have more important matters to deal with this week.

But the game should be moved to another city.

What is worse for your playoff hopes? 2 neutral site games and only 6 home games or no bye week?

Man is this ugly. There was no reason to change the logo.

Maybe it's a new shoulder patch or secondary logo. Like the eagles use wings on their helmet but the eagle head on hats and things.

Even the Ravens went from the full wings out lgog to just the Raven head.

Is that what they will put on helmets?

If so that is terrible

The helmets are fine way they are and were fine for decades when they looked like this
