more limitations for Cup drivers in 2018:

as it stands now, Cup drivers are limited to 7 races in the Trucks, and ten in XFINITY, EXCLUDING Playoffs/Dash 4 Cash, WELL those limits are being revised for 2018....

for those over 5 years of Cup experience:the limits are being reduced... XFINITY now will be dropped from 10 to 7 starts, excluding Dash 4 Cash/playoffs, the Trucks will drop to 5 starts instead of 7, if you aren't running or declared points in either series, but are running Cup full-time

EFFECTIVE Today:

Kurt Busch is a free agent, despite reports by SHR; Monster Energy is why the team option was declined they have to sponsor 18 races on the 41 in addition to the title sponsorship package to renew past 2018, as Series sponsor until 2020;

Pocono/Iowa PENALTIES:

77 team loses Crew Chief Chris Gayle for 2 events due to a Rear Supension(TRUCK Arm) L1 Violation, a 25 pt owner/driver points penalty and a 50K Fine;engineer James Small named interim as FRR declines appeal of penalty;

18/17/6 teams fined 10K, for 1 lug nut not secured;

52 Truck team suffers lug nut violation, fined $2500

16 XFINITY Team Lug nut violation fined $5000;

Brett Moffitt joins BK Racing and 83 team for next two weeks;

88 Team will honor the 8 at Homestead;

Overtime line eliminated will now be Start finish line;

XFINITY:

42 entries now for Zippo 200;

9-Byron to honor Ricky Hendrick at Darlington

Harry Scott (1966-2017)who owned or co-owned Turner Scott Motorsports in the XFINITY/CWTS, before folding in 2014, AND INHERITED Phoenix Racing from James Finch in August 2013 through the end of last season, and employed current Cup driver Clint Bowyer, and XFINITY Drivers Justin Allgaier/Michael Annett (who are now reunited at JRM), suddenly passed away at the age of 51.....;

Hendrick Motorsports to mutually separate w/ Kasey Kahne effective at the end of 2017, despite Kahne's contract expiring after 2018, so now the 5 is an open ride, joining the 77, after the switch of Erik Jones to the 20, and Kenseth's exit, independent of the 88 transition.

Reports now coming out that the JRM 9 XFINITY ride will likely be open again as William Byron expected to be promoted to the Hendrick 5

JRM 9: Crew Chief Dave Elenz fined 10K, team loses 10 owner/driver points and suspended for 1 week (Mid-Ohio), for violation of Rear Body height post race; team will not appeal/ Brandon McSwain/Ryan Pemberton to co-lead @ Mid Ohio;

JGL 28: Crew Chief Steven Lane/Car Chief Rick Markle suspended 3 weeks for improper weight at WGI;

Fast Friday update

MENSC: Pure Michigan 400 qualifying is underway on NBCSN;

XFINITY lost both practices due to weather at Mid-Ohio, they'll get a single ;practice at 8 AM tomorrow before qualifying/racing;

Trucks will also qualify and Race at MIS Tomorrow;
