I just hope they get the order right. Hire the GM before the coach. Make sure everyone is in place at least a month before the draft.

But we really, really need to see what Webb has.

It looks more and more like Mara is a ****ing coward and rolled over for the whiners. This is just so poorly done.

Leaving the decision up to Spags just shows he learned nothing from what started the mess in the first place. He said he had the power to overrule the Manning benching and to blame him for it. Now instead of just making the decision to start Webb, he's letting Spags take the fall for it while claiming to still want to see Webb at some point. It's really silly.

Rofl. So Manning is starting again?

I hate this team right now. Everything about it.

Let's not evaluate a third round pick. Let's just say "**** it" and start the near-37-year-old with no real future on the team. Just due to nostalgia.

It's dumb but I think I get why he's doing it.

It's more money. Extra dough from the take since the Eli benching handed fans another reason to boycott Met Life. Plus, I don't think Mara wants his stadium filled with Cowboys fans.

I think Eli is going to get traded. They'll play Webb a few series, maybe a half or two to see what he has, and give him (and the QB they draft) the impression that there will be a competition to start next season.

He's a complete coward. This is the worst moment in Mara's owernship thus far.

Would not shock me to see the Jets trade up to #1OA.
With 5 wins already in the bag, it would take a pretty enormous offer to get up to #1. I'm not sold that Darnold and Rosen are that much better than some of the other guys, so I would hope they could get their guy at like 5 or 6 or even later.

Would the Jets have the balls to take Mayfield?

Interesting point I didn't think of. Either way...

In 43 games OBJ alone has over 1,600 YAC. Aside from the fluke 2011 (99 yard pass vs Jets) the Giant offense didn't generate much YAC until OBJ arrived on the scene. To even consider judging Geno or any other QB vs Manning without them is ridiculous.

Just for reference:
Year YAC Rk Passing %
2010 1645 20 4002 41%
2011 2175 5 4933 44%
2012 1478 26 3948 37%
2013 1579 29 3818 41%
2014 2090 11 4410 47%
2015 2116 7 4432 48%
2016 2061 10 4027 51%

Yeah it depends on the draft order and the needs of the other teams. But they will be sold on "their guy" and overpay accordingly. They might also feel compelled to jump over the Giants in the draft, though that might be my wishful thinking.

Should've been more specific.

I'd like to see Eli's YAC this year (we can do in games w/o 13) vs. the YAC that Geno got yesterday.

I'm kinda over this, though, so don't waste your time :)

What a great day to be a Giants fan, we finally have hope again!

Yes & no. I'm cautiously optomistic....but Mara needs to get this right this time. Hopefully Accorsi steers him in the right direction.

I read somewhere (NYPost?) that it doesn't look like they are letting anyone else in the front office go. That's bad news already, IMO. The entire Player Personnel dept needs to be replaced, starting with Marc Ross.

You simply can’t do that, though. You can’t replace everyone. You lose a full years worth of scouting.

Precisely, after the draft the new GM will decide if he wants a full revamped front office or not.

It'd be nice if the new GM can draft some decent offensive linemen and a legit running back. So many other teams have found quality backs in the middle rounds and look at the bums Reese has come up with.

What are we thinking the Jets finish? 6-10? I think they take the home game against the Chargers. They have a legitimate chance in Denver I think. The games at NO and NE are really difficult, particularly how those teams are playing. However the Jets can compete with anyone if they play a good, clean game.

Based on last year 6-10 gets you something like pick 7 through 10. 7-9 gets more dicey, as with tiebreakers you can fall back to like 14 or 15. I haven't looked at the standings and schedules this year, but it's safe to say that if the Jets want one of the big names without giving up a ransom they can really only afford to win maybe one more game. Anything beyond that and it's typical Jets.

He can be "serviceable" at 41? Dude. No.

Eli is a statue. Turning 40 doesn't make your arm wither and die. Drew Brees hasnt slowed down, neither has Brady. I guess Peyton Manning was about done at 39-40, so perhaps we can expect a similar trend for Eli.

Loads of respect for this. I love players who can leave it on the field. Who can play within the 60 minutes, turn it off, and show the respect the game and deserves after. No rivalries in that photo, just respect. Really love that.

Thoughts with Shazier for sure. The hit didn't look abnormal or anything but you can tell right away he knows something was wrong. And then when he rolled over on the field, you could see that his legs were just total dead weight. Hard to watch.

"I would like to thank the New York Football Giants for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing franchise for the past twenty-three years. My time here has been filled with many great memories. Thank you John and the Mara family, Steve and the Tisch family for your confidence in me for so many seasons.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Tom Coughlin and Ben McAdoo for their commitment to the NYG and my time working with them. I'm thankful to the late George Young, who hired me, and to Ernie Accorsi for grooming me. Many thanks to the front office, personnel staff, support staff, scouts, coaches, and current and former players for your dedication to a first class organization. My family, friends and many fans that have supported me, and I sincerely appreciate all of you. I am truly grateful and blessed for my time with the NYG. All the best to you. Go Giants."

Classy statement by Jerry Reese. Telling silence from McAdoo....

That’s absurd. The idea that Manning has the arm of Brady or Brees even now is crazy. Manning’s accuracy has been going down for a while.
