Eh Yamamoto had some good games at the NHL level, but just couldn't manage to bury any of his chances. He's earned it because he deserves to be there and a 10 game sample from junior doesn't change that.

Kemp I'm not surprised got an invite. He's had some good reviews from NCAA this year and was on the U18 team last year. Not sure if he'll make it, but he's certainly looking like much more of a quality prospect than I originally thought when we selected him.

I think Kemp was the captain of the U18 team last year.

Benson, Wells, and Skinner all left off of the Team Canada WJHC selection camp roster. Skinner and Wells have had a real up and down year, so not a huge surprise, but Benson has torn the WHL apart thus far.

Hockey Canada's selection process has been a mess ever since Nicholson left.

It's the "coke machine Canadian Hockey" approach.

It's what happens when you hire someone like Renney (who has never really won anything) to replace a man who has been successful at nearly everything he does (Nicholson).

Hockey Canada's selection process has been a mess ever since Nicholson left.

Nicholson leaves hockey Canada for job with the Oilers.

Three Oilers thought to be either locks or late cuts not even invited to main camp.

Ethan Bear not invited last year.

Wonder if there's an axe to grind there...

It's not just the Oilers being left off. They've made some very questionable selections over the recent years.

Inviting guys like Formenton, Ang, Gadjovich, Comtois and Kaspick over Benson is pretty laughable but that's been the case with Hockey Canada's selections for a number of years now. I'm upset about the decision but not at all surprised honestly.

It's time to start asking tough questions about Hockey Canada. Easy to forget that the under 20s have won gold only once in the last eight years. And the 2015 winning team was stacked with 'can't lose' prospects like McDavid.

I mean they left Nurse and Domi off the one year and invited Chris Bigras. Nothing should really surprise you with Hockey Canada. Oh well, Benson's rolling so let him keep doing his thing in the WHL.

They made it to the gold medal game last year, so at the end of the day even when people doubted them last year they appeared to still do not bad.

The real eye opener for me is not one of the current top ten for next year's draft is Canadian.

Yeah, Canada's selection process is quite strange. Instead of taking the BEST players for a BEST on BEST tournament, they're trying to build a team with role players and stuff.

I don't get it.

It's like trying to say that the Pittsburgh Penguins last year would beat Team Canada.
