Yeah this is for the NCHC championship, basically the Regional Championship, not the National Championship as EveryDay alerted to which starts in April (frozen four) , there was some confusion for me as well since this particular tournament is called the "Frozen Faceoff" lol..

they do the same for NCAA football and basketballl as well, everyone is more familiar with the "national championship tournaments" but they all play sort of "pennant" championships before the big dance

The tournament.starts next weekend with regions. 16 teams in the tourney... 4 teams in each region will play either thursday/saturday or friday/sunday.

One loss and you are out.

He has to.win 2 games next weekend to be part of the frozen four on april 5th/7th
