I won't add the Urban Cowboys' inferred games to the OP. Sometimes these things are still being negotiated if they appear on only one team's schedule.

It doesn't matter either way, but you're probably safe to add - Western hosts a preseason four-team tourney, and this year's guests are Waterloo, Windsor, and Carleton.

You mean exhibition? Because they can certainly play more than one non-con game. And I think they're allowed to play up to two exhibitions like when teams play the USA U18 team in a Friday/Saturday set.

From USCHO:

Q: How many games can a team play? What games/tournaments are exempted?

A: NCAA teams are allowed to play 34 games during the regular season, not including conference postseason tournaments and the NCAA tournament. Conferences may impose further restrictions. Some in-season tournaments, special games and games played in Alaska are exempted from the 34-game limit.

Each team can play 1 non-NCAA opponent, mainly a USPORTS team which pushes the total to 35. They can get one more game, not including tournaments and other special games mentioned above if they play the U-18 team for a total of 36.

Now - if a team is weak and unable to find two opponents on a weekend and their schedule totals 33 - they can fill that 34th game with another USPORTs team. UMaine did this two years ago - they played Dal in October but only had a 32 game schedule, so they played both SFX & UNB in January.

When conferences list exhibition games they usually leave out lots. But what does appear is interesting. First, MacEwan, and not Alberta, will face the Oilers Rookies this year. Second, there are a lot of games against BCIHL teams.

At some time the AUS decided to take an odd approach to schedule-making this year. It appears that the SMUskies did things the normal way by releasing what is either a full or almost full exhibition schedule. Meanwhile, Acadia, Dalhousie, and UPEI added one game each: their games against SMU.

It has been a long time since they played NCAA teams. Although, they have also not played outside the prairies in pre-season for a long time, either.

USask has been a good team the past couple of years, but not having tough competition early in the season might work against them in the long run.

Playing better and faster teams that challenge you early can only help set the bar higher and give you a goal to achieve.
