Oilers sign one of my favourite prospects, Kirill Maksimov, to a three year ELC. Fantastic year in the OHL - 30g-43a-73 points in 59 games, leads the IceDogs in plus minus and 2nd in PIM. Hoping we have a baby Perron/Neal type player in the making.

Nolan Stevens (Blues) is listed in two sections:

NCAA PLAYERS WITH EXPIRING RIGHTS

OTHER UNSIGNED 2016 DRAFT PICKS (Rights do not expire June 1st, 2018)

Booba had Noah Stevens so Nolan Stevens may not have translated over.

The following players who are Group II (Restricted) Free Agents will be 27 years of age as of July 1, 2018, and will become Group III (Unrestricted) Free Agents. The year in parenthesis is the year they became RFAs.

Andre Petersson, W, Anaheim (2014)
Adam Almquist, D, Detroit (2014)
Roman Horak, C, Edmonton (2014)
Joonas Nattinen, C, Montreal (2014)
Stefan Elliott, D, Nashville (2016)
Alexander Urbom, D, New Jersey (2014)
Carl Klingberg, LW, New York Rangers (2015)
Daniil Tarasov, RW, San Jose (2015)
Carter Ashton, RW, Tampa Bay (2015)

As seen in past years, three players on the restricted free agent lists probably had their teams release their rights so they could sign in the AHL. Their names won't be on the free agent list in July 1.

Colin Campbell, RW, Detroit (2016)
Scott Valentine, D, Nashville (2014)
David Wohlberg, C, New Jersey (2014)

I contacted CapFriendly, and they said that Pittsburgh's Ryan Segalla's rights (not listed in this thread) should be expiring this off-season...

Segalla has been a really bizarre case.

Drafted from USHS as an 18y/o, he joined the NCAA immediately (which makes him fall under all the same rules as a student drafted from college), but after three years at UConn, signed on with Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate, Wikes-Barre/Scranton for the 2016-17 season, ending his NCAA eligibility.
Drafted as a college student, Segalla's rights should extend to four year after his draft and as he was drafted in 2013, his rights should have expired in August 2017. But they didn't...

There is a clause that allows students rights to be held beyond the 4 years, but only if they still NCAA eligibility... Segalla gave that up when he went pro...

And yet, Ryan Segalla is still on Pittsburgh's reserve list and in the NHL database...
He was playing ECHL this season, thought not for Pittsburgh's affiliate, and on contracts completely independent of Pittsburgh, though he has seemingly been injured since November.

CapFriendly elected not to share the details (for the sake of saving time or if they're not at liberty to say, idk), but what they did have to say is, 'it isn’t necessarily a loophole, but more of a technicality and once the technicality is corrected this summer he’ll be officially removed from their reserve list.'

CapFriendly says NYR's rights to Klingberg are "Indefinite", not sure if you are right, or they are
Klingberg was QO'd but signed in Europe

Booba had Noah Stevens so Nolan Stevens may not have translated over.

I've also made a mistake regarding Chis Wilkie's rights which hasn't be corrected in the first post.

Wilkie who started college in 2015, is redshirting the current season which means that Florida owns his rights until mid-August 2020.

For what it's worth, Campbell, Valentine, Wohlberg and all the players mentioned above, except Tarasov, were left unprotected during the past expansion draft.

Question for some of the CBA savvy users here, completely out of curiosity,

Can a prospect signed for next season only, be used as a tradeable commodity before that season begins?
To clarify with an example, Toronto just signed Mason Marchment to a contract for the 2018-19 season. Can he be traded at any point in the remainder of the 2017-18 season, or would the Leafs have to wait until the turnover of seasons?

I know it does not make sense to trade him, and it is high unlikely they would, just wondering how possible it is.

As long as you own his rights, isn't a player tradeable even if he's not signed ?
