Wouldn't have been surprised if either were claimed (especially Pickard) but certainly not surprised they weren't

Not sure what Pittsburgh is doing with their goaltending. Pickard is no world beater but he is a better goalie than Niemi. He's been bad for awhile now too it's not like it's anything new.

He's a recent top 5 pick who may have played up to his potential if given a chance. It's a risk worth taking.
