I'm kind of a little annoyed with this Finals matchup.

Either Washington will get its first Cup, and break their drought dating back to the 1970s (like we should have done in 2011), or Vegas will just stroll along to their first Cup in their first year of existence.

So yes, I'm jealous.

Good hire that will help Dubas to navigate these next couple off-seasons and the fairly large contracts the leafs are set to hand out.

Must have been a good $ number for him to take another agm job.

Thank you to Gilman for making Wednesday commutes a pleasure to listen to.

Super smart hire

Hoping this is him getting back into management for a little while so he can possibly take on the Seattle job when they get their franchise in a few seasons

Let's just have a glance at what championships D.C.-area sports teams have won...

3x Redskins (1983, 1988, 1992)
1x Bullets / Wizards (1978)
4x D.C. United if you want to count MLS, too (1996, 1997, 1999, 2004)
0x Nationals (est. 2005, 0 WS appearances)
0x Capitals (est. 1974, 1 Finals loss 1998)

I have the Capitals in the bottom-tier of NHL franchises - even worse off than us, in that they have 3 Presidents Trophy wins (QF loss, SF loss, SF loss) to 1 Cup Finals appearance which ended in a sweep. That could all change if they do the unthinkable and win it here

The thing is if you are doing "DC area" then you pretty much have to include Baltimore.

Gilman sounds like a perfect fit for the Leafs. Young forward thinking GM and now they have a guy with experience that is great with the cap. Extremely jealous of the front-office situation in Toronto.

Oh cool, I missed that. Lots going on over there.
Yeah, some crazy turnaround in management.
I like the hire for contract/cap stuff, but I am unsure about it on player aquisition/development side of things. Can anyone in here chime in on how Gilman is with those things, or did he not do any of that in VAN?
