Saves happen nearly every game, a complete game, that too in the postseason is very rare. We had a 9 run cushion. Estrada deserved it.

There's no big picture here. 100 pitches have not shown to result in higher risk of injury in the game. The problem is pitchers performance drops around 80-100 pitches. Estrada wasn't showing that. He'll also get an extra day's rest before his next probable start (game 5 of this series).

There's no technical reason to pull him here.

He wasn't even closer to being overworked to get 2 more outs. He was barely worked. 10 more pitches would have had him around a normal outing
