I don't know the name of the guy who ran that site, but he's the still doing the video for UNB today.

I really think the impact of ticket sales on streaming prices is a concern shared by *maybe* 3-4 programs in the entire country (UNB, Lakehead...maybe that's it, actually).
I know that, in the OUA, the audience numbers have increased steadily year-over-year since the launch of OUA TV. The league also mandates a few ads be run on most or all of their webcasts, and I suspect that trend will increase as the seasons go by. I find it really hard to believe that ad revenues in a free service would be less than the membership revenues.
It's like smartphone apps - the most profitable ones are free, with ads and add-on services. Paid apps and games get crushed; more users (or, in this case, eyeballs) is always the most lucrative way to go.

With Alberta releasing their games in the Brick Invitational, it appears that all is final in the CW exhibition schedule. All that could be added now is a game between MRU and Sask, or between one of those and an ACAC team.

well the Bisons are taking the ice for training camp soon and if we piece together the recruiting announcements and some well-sourced rumours we have a real strong recruiting class that is build if g on a very solid foundation from last year. The Bisons have a young, hard-working and academically successful team (11 Academic All-Canadians) that finished .500 last year and hosted a first round playoff series against the veteran-laden Calgary Dinos team which they lost in 3 games. All this despite having zero 5th year players and only 3 - 4th year players last year. With Alberta and Saskatchewan and Lethbridge all announcing very talented recruiting classss the Bisons will have their work cut out for them to finish in the top 4 but I like their chances more than last year when they finished 4th.
Goaltending
Top 2015 recruit Justin Paulic is back along with veteran Byron Spriggs and hard-working third-stringer Dasan Sydora. The goaltending will only be better this year with more experience and better shooters in practice.
Defence
The Bisons lose Co-Capatin Luke Paulsen to graduation. Luke played all of last season with a bothersome and limiting injury and so was not as effective as he has been in the past but his leadership will be missed. Returning dmen include the slick super rookie Adam Henry and Channing Bresciani along with 5th year assistant captain Lee Christensen and former Wheat King Rene Hunter. The defence is sound and will be bolstered by two recruits.
New recruits include the smooth-skating and adept puck mover left handed Garrett Johnston who spent the last three seasons in the QMJHL. He had a 7-26-33 season last year and projects to be a top 4 dman who will get a chance on the PP.
Rumour has it that Portland Winterhawks Assistant Captain, Blake Heinrich, from Minnesota, has committed to the Bisons but is first going to the Minnesota Wild main camp. Blake was a 5th round Washington draft pick and had a 10-21-31 season with 118 PIM. He was paired with current Bison Adam Henry in 2014-15 in Portland and is a hard-working, physical defenceman. If he does not get a pro deal he will immediately be a top 4 defenceman in the CIS.
Forwards
Here is where it gets really interesting. The Bisons needed more scoring depth after Canada West scoring leader and now 4th year right winger Jordan DePape, 6th overall scoring leader Shaq Merasty and 1st team rookie all-star Brett Stovin. While not one of the Bison forwards has used up their eligibility there may be a few changes with a very robust forward recruitment class that includes a lot of high end offence as well as some grit.
Nick Zajac - the Captain of the 2015-16 Saskatoon Blades brings a relentless work ethic, heart, leadership, grit (91 PIM) and some offensive skill with a 20-32-52 season in his 20 year old year on a terrible team. He will also be adept in the classroom having graduated from the academically challenging and prestigious St. John's Ravenscourt. The left-winger has been a line-mate with Brett Stovin in the past and there is little doubt that Coach Sirant will give them the opportunity to revisit that chemistry and play together again in the top 6.
Remi Laurencelle - Remi was an assistant captain with the Everett Silvertips and had back to back 20+ goal WHL seasons including a 28-30-58 season last year. Remi brings speed and skill to the centre position and will get lots of chance to play in the top 6 right away.
Brad Bowles - Brad was arguably among the top Junior A players in Canada the past two years Rumour has it he was recruited by about 30 NCAA programs but wanted to play with his brother and stay close to home. Brad has done just about everything a junior player can do including captaining an RBC Cup championship team and winning numerous MVP awards. He brings his gritty, two-way, skill game and 45-57-102 season to the Bisons where he will certainly play with his twin brother Shawn. Both young men are 6'2", 190.
Shawn Bowles - Shawn had almost identical PPG stats as Brad and plays an even grittier game than his brother. These two guys will make some lucky right-winger very productive as they seemingly have eyes in the backs of their heads and are the ultimate team players.
Hudson Friesen - Hudson is a versatile big body forward (6'2" 200) who can play all three forward positions and defence as well. Hudson red-shirted last year after playing two years in the NCAA with the U of Alaska-Anchorage. He will bring skill, strength, experience and versatility to the Bison lineup. I can't imagine him not playing in the top 9.
Quintin Lisoway - Quintin is a tenacious and versatile forward who was an assistant captain with the Brandon Wheat Kings in his 19 year old season. He started his 20 year old year in the QMJHL and finished off with the MJHL's Steinbach Pistons scoring 18-15-33 in 27 games. He will be counted on to kill penalties, work hard and chip in with some offence here and there. He can also play defence in a pinch, as he did with the Wheat Kings in 2014-15.
Kamerin Nault - Kamerin is a highly regarded Junior A player who plays a positionally smart game and who continues to improve his game each season. in 54 games last year with the MJHL's Winnipeg Blues he was 37-39-76. He will likely find it difficult to get in the lineup this year with all the depth but projects to be an important and effective forward who can be trusted in any situation.
In addition to the aforementioned top 3 returning forwards and these 7 recruits a large group of returning forwards that includes 5th year veteran grinder and PK specialist Jesse Paradis and the rugged difficult-to-play-against 3rd year duo of Joel Schreyer and Warren Callis who will be vying for spots in the starting lineup. Schreyer and Callis may be the best defensive forwards in Canada West. Successful 2015-16 rookies Liam Bilton, Brett Brooks and Jonah Wasylak are also returning along with 3rd year centre Justin Augert. Skilled forward Brett Dudar who sat out 2015-16 with injuries is also returning. The locker room will be crowded with close to 20 forwards coming to camp.
It is also worth noting that the Bisons have bolstered their coaching staff by adding former 2nd round NHL draft pick defenceman Ryan Bonni. Ryan had a great 11 year pro career which included multiple seasons in the AHL and Europe. He has since won two Allan Cups and will bring some serious knowledge and experience to the coaching of the Bison defence group.
It is safe to say that with the strong recruiting class and more experience the Bisons will be a much better squad than last season. The nine pre-season games will help Coach Sirant and company make the inevitable difficult decisions about who plays where and with whom.

UQTR is now 2-0 in a round-robin tournament. Also at 2-0 are the Nottingham Panthers, the defending champion of the EIHL, the "big leagues" in the British Isles. Kassel is in the DEL2, which is Germany's 2nd tier league. The Bisons have played teams from that league in their tours of Europe.
On Sunday, the tournament wraps up with games between Nottingham v UQTR and Amiens v Kassel.
One note: Due to the hot weather at this time of year the first 3 games of the tournament had to be played in a smaller secondary arena.
BTW, the scores of the Napoleon Cup games nor incolving UQTR are as follows:

It sounds like the Bisons, Alberta, and Sask had by far the best recruiting classesin the CW, and maybe the whole CIS. However, I always want to see the training camp roster before I judge.

Despite the loss, UQTR must consider their European sojourn to have been a success. They were 3-1-0 and will bring home some hardware.

Also, I have nothing to say about Jamestown. This is the first season for the program so Friday night's debut will go down in their history as a momentous occasion.

It is always nice to get out to hockey for the dirst time in late summer. The crowd was small, yet more than I anticipated due to the Goldeyes having a hom game and TV featuring the Red Sox v Blue Jays and the World Cup exhibition game.
The game was also significant in that the Jamestown team was playing their first ever game. Will this lead to bigger and better things? Time will tell. Althoufh they looked sharp in their bright orange jerseys, they were in way iver their heads. One can safely say the score flattered them.
I have thus far not seen a game report and summary. The Bisons held period leads of 3-0 and 5-0. The shots be period were 15-3, 17-2, and 9-5. Justin Paulic shared the shut-out with Dasan Sydora. Goals were scored by Justin Augert, Jesse Paradis, Brett Stovin, Dylan Kelly, Joel Schreyer, and Jordan DePape.
There was a vast difference betweem the teams. I don't believe that Jamestown had consecutive shots in the game. There were only maybe 1 or 2 faceoffs per period in the Bison end. Of the 10 official shots only 2 or 3 actually required effort.
My vision is not good at present so I could not jot down the alignment. I got help from my son for the Bisons and got this:

So 20 forwards are trying out for the team, and just 7 defencemen. I remember one season when they kept 10 defencemen and 14 forwards, and played many games with 2 or 3 d-men playing forward. It is mucj harder to do the reverse.
One notable absence from the roster is defenceman and former #12 Brock Sutherland. He could have been back for a 5th year but likely graduated after 4 years and has moved on. There were also two new names not previously announced as recruits.
Blake Heinrich - D - Portland (WHL)
- This Minnesota boy played two full seasons with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL then went to the Portland Winterhawks in the Dub. He had been a recruit for UMD but then switched to the major junior route.

The Jimminies came out with some intensity, giving it a literal "college try" after their Friday night debacle. For one period, it worked to an extent. The Bisons came out trampling them but on a PP the Jimmies actually carried the play and had scoring chances. However, the Bisons got goals from Channing Bresciani and Remi Laurencelle (on a fabulous breakaway) and outshot them 12-5.
In the 2nd period, Byron Spriggs replaced Dasan Sydora in the Bison goal. This gave each goaltender 2 periods on the weekend. It seemed that the 1st period physicality wore out the Jimmies. They were gassed and the Bisons piled on 4 goals and outshot them 15-2. Goals came from Shawn Bowles, Liam Bilton, Justin Augert, and Brett Dudar. Dudar's was on a nice passing play where he was left to put the icing on the cake.
The 3rd period was more of the same. I believe that the shots were 14-3, for 41-10 on the night. The Bison goals were scored by three newcomers: Hudson Friesen, Quintin Lisoway, and Daniel Stagg (into an empty net!). Of note, Lisoway switched from #26 to #23 (taking Schreyer's jersey) and Stagg switched from #30 to #29 (Wasylak's jersey). Friesen's goal was the end of a nice passing play with his linemates, Laurencelle and Augert. Incidentally, that line were also the 3 stars.
Another interesting tidbit: No Bison scored twice in either game. Only one (Augert) scored in both. He was the only player to score on Friday and dress on Saturday.
A couple of players wore a different number than was listed on the line-up sheet. So these alignments may not be 100% accurate.

Heinrich to Manitoba isn't quite a done deal yet. You won't see him play until he's back from pro camp in Minnesota. Heinrich is still looking for a pro opportunity, if he doesn't get one, he'll go to Manitoba.
Not sure what the deal is with Nault. Possibly an injury, but that's just speculation on my end.

Nault wore #17 on Saturday night and played real well. Not sure why several players wore other players jerseys.

I figured as much. I only picked up on Lisoway and Stagg because they scored and I got the announcements. I suspect that some jerseys were no longer in game shape and new ones are coming for the season. This used to happen all the time even during the regular season in junior leagues.
#17 did play well but with 20 forwards in camp something has to give. If someone can double-up as a defenceman that could help him make the team.

They won a number of games against CW teams, including the Brick Invitational Tournament. So the Monkeys have to be happy with this win in the Athabasca tournament finale.
