I got the SMU sched from the Head Coach. SMU website will be weeks or more updating.

Ryerson will face Western at Maple Leaf Gardens on September 12th. That's what I'm told by Ryerson.

The Rams will also travel west to face UBC for a double header, and will play Sacred Heart on the road, but I don't have dates on those games yet.

I hate it when the Urban Cowboys are called "Western". They are Ontario's problem. They would like to be considered "Western" but they aren't and never will be!

Maybe so, but pretty much everyone has referred to them as Western since - I don't know how long. I attended in the 80's and the Mustangs were always referred to as "Western" - never Western Ontario (except in the CIAU/CIS rankings), and sometimes "UWO".

Here's the funny thing - when they re-branded themselves as "Western University" a few years ago, there was a big backlash among alumni (personally, I don't like it at all), and even among some existing students, who hate it and preferred keeping Western as a nickname (the impetus for the change was an international Marketing thing, to have a more neutral branding similar to Northwestern University). The official name of the school - and the one that appears on degrees - remains as the University of Western Ontario. On the campus, historically all of the official signage was always University of Western Ontario (almost never Western), but has all been changed to Western or Western University. My daughter attends now and her LinkedIn profile shows "University of Western Ontario" rather than "Western University" : )

Also, the schedule shows the game against Rye High as being on the 13th. On the one game per weekend thing, my guess is that it's a result of the "best laid plans" and pre-season schedules being fluid. The time when Nipissing is at Western is usually when they have the East/West tournament, and I wouldn't be surprised if something fell through that caused this to become a single game. Western usually plays 2 games against NCAA opponents on the same weekend and earlier were showing on Miami's schedule, and this ended up being changed to Waterloo.

Maybe so, but pretty much everyone has referred to them as Western since - I don't know how long. I attended in the 80's and the Mustangs were always referred to as "Western" - never Western Ontario (except in the CIAU/CIS rankings), and sometimes "UWO".

I see the switch of dates on the Ryerson game. The master schedule will reflect the change next time around.

IMO UWO aspires to be from the west. Hence calling themselves "Western" when they are from the East, and using the "Mustang" moniker. That just makes them sound like a bunch of Urban Cowboys like these:
