No one responded before so i'll ask again: Why are you guys excited for specifically Friday? I know that rounds 2-7 are friday, but you do know that the first round is Thursday @ 6, right?

I think you are getting the NBA draft dates confused with the NHL draft dates. Also the NHL draft will be broadcasted on Sportsnet. NBA draft is on TSN.

not sure if serious...

Reminder, the rankings are accumulation of subjective opinions, even if the subjective opinions have been shaped by objective information.
The write ups and statistical information in the articles though are very objective and interesting.
:)

** On Pavel Zacha **
For Zacha slip up (IMO it's a slip up), see post 940.

Conspicuous by their absence. No sign of DeBrusk, Kylington, or White.....yet? :)
Curious to see if Beauvillier makes an appearance.

White was 48 and DeBrusk was 47, so they didn't make the cut.

Beauvillier does. Just as a warning, Rhys is madly in love with Beauvillier so there is a bit of an outlier vote haha

If they rely on statistics a lot (they do), Kylington will be top15, and Beauvillier top20 :)

Also, post number 1099. Mods r asleep, woooo!

I'll give one hint. Beauvillier out ranks Kylington.

This draft has some large tiers that are guys who are *very* close and intermixable.

If you are using stats, how does Debrusk not make the top 45?? If you are using anything qualitative, how does White miss?? Those are real head-scratchers.

As I mentioned above each had their own methods.

I'm assuming yours was largely quantitative.

Debrusk so low on your list was a bit of a surprise, even though I am not a big fan of his for the Jets.

Was it because of his somewhat older age (October 1996 birthdate)?

I'm actually wondering why Meloche isn't generally ranked higher on lists. July birthday, good size, good point production, from what I read he's good defensively too (haven't watched him play so can't provide personal insight) Plays a physical game. Skating? Or what's his drawback that makes him looked at as more a 2nd round guy?

That is one of the more interesting bold lists out there. Glad to see a real debate.

What would be an interesting method of ranking for fun would be listing best to worst in the same fashion but using right to left (best to worst) to show tears as in

McDavid

Eichel

Strome Marner
Werenski
Cononor Provorov Hanifn

Etc etc

Not saying those are your tiers but it would give a much better feel for ranking. I thought of doing it but I'll be honest the more information I get the more I am changing my mind.

This is actually so far off on how the scouts say it will play out. [mod]

How is this thread so over 1k? hahah

How so?

The scouts are incredibly far off each other. Some scouts differ on some individuals (Ex: Svechnikov) by a full round.

It's actually amazing how little scouts agree.

I think he probably means that guys like say Beauvillier,Meloche and Vande Sompel probably don't go that high and guys like Carlo,White and Bittner don't go that low in the draft.

I don't think it means that any of those guys will be better or worse then each other

"25. Winnipeg Jets: Daniel Sprong, RW, Charlottetown Islanders
Top 10 skill but a lot of teams think he needs an attitude adjustment."

Which, if accurate makes the Jets among the least likely to take him.

Somebody with a lot more talent than I have needs to photoshop Sprongs head onto a guy getting attitude adjusted by John Cena......

The one thing about Sprong is he is reportedly a hard worker and not the lazy sort. I think that's a more important trait for the Jets than the things mentioned about Sprong. The NHL will humble him.

There are many in the Q who think Ehlers needs an attitude adjustment.

I take with grain of salt.

I don't know a Garret there is a huge difference between rivals thinking you need an attitude adjustment and acquiring teams thinking you need an attitude adjustment. I never heard a peep about teams at the combine having an issue with Nik last year in fact it was quite the opposite.

I take these things with a grain of salt as well (Kylington for example) but on the flip side when I hear enough from multiple sources then I also don't ignore it. The question will come down to whether TNSE think its an issue or not I guess.
