I wonder what the deadline will be like this year with the new CBA rules in affect.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but eventually, we have to give a top six spot to Tedenby or Butler. We can't just keep signing top six players, they'll never get the chance. It's make or break for them. I have a feeling Butler scores like 11-14 this season, on par for a 20-25 goal season in a full season.

Lou won't hesitate to make a move, and he has Tallinder who he can move. I think it's best to sign Darche (or keep Matteau) to solidify the third line. That way, if Tedenby or Butler falter, we are still left with a pretty good third line, and not an awful one.

Clearly people saw something in Sykora because NO ONE! has signed him so 30 teams have passed he has not got a tryout or anything. Only other thing is he is asking for to much money and no one will take him on it.

I've been saying it since last weekend. Sykora isn't gonna sign anywhere until tomorrow at the earlier. When training camps are over! Remember how famous he was for missing optional morning skates last year?!

I have a feeling that the Devils are going to see a significant boost in production from their defense this season.

With a more mature Larrson, a more acclimated Zidlicky, a healthy Tallinder, a more seasoned Fayne + Greene the Devils defense should be more mobile and dynamic than it has in years.


But I don't think that will be enough to make up the production of Sykora and Parise. I figure the Devils are going to have to find 30 or so new goals this season. They need to add a scoring forward even with improvements from young forwards and the defense there still seems to be a shortfall.

Well, to be fair, a healthy Zajac will replace much of the production we lost in Parise.

Still hoping we trade a defenseman, hopefully Tallinder. I like the other 6 (w/ Harrold as a healthy scratch). Good balance between mobility and defensive prowess.

Sean Burke was an easy one for me. I am old enough to remember him on the Devils, and I hated him after the 88 playoffs cause he was never any good with the Devils after that. He lost the starting job to Terreri, and sat out the whole 91/92 season because of it. Then he got traded to Hartford for Bobby Holik, and a second round pick the next year that became Jay Pandolfo. He hooked up with Benoit Allaire (I think it was him) in Phoenix, made his pads larger, and started posting ridiculous numbers years down the road.

I remember around 00/01-01/02 which were his best seasons, Marty was struggling, and people wanted him back. It was probably after Marty's awful 01 SCF performance. If HF Boards existed in 89-92 I would have made a Burke for Richter, Burke for Vanbiesbrouck, and Burke for Hrudey proposals.

I think it is Zyuzin. I didn't like him much either. He was okay, but I think since he was drafted 2nd overall, more was expected of him.
