The CBA negotiations didn't contain anything about re-alignment. It was put to the side, like the olympics decision. I would assume they will discuss it soon. Early on in negotiations it was reported that hte NHL wanted to put in the deal that they had sole descretion on re-alignment, but I don't believe that was included in the final deal.
Betman on re-algnment and Olympics after deal was reached:
"We'll get to that," Bettman said of those two topics. "Both issues are important to both players and the league and the clubs. We know we can get to that. I believe as we've said all along, neither are bargaining chips. They're really working together and problem-solving."
