This list is missing a couple big American names, both of whom are on this year's USNTDP U-17 squad but are '09 draftees: Jordan Schroeder, who is currently leading the team in scoring, and; Danny Kristo, who is might be the best skater on the whole team and is 3rd in points. I'd be pretty surprised if any fair list of the 1st round '09 prospects didn't include these two at this point. I think a good case could be made that both are top 10.

This draft is so flowing with talent that it is hard to fit all the great players in just round 1 right now. As for Schroeder and Kristo I would still put who I have in front of them ahead of them myself.

Schroeder (9/29/90) is an '09, but Kristo (6/18/90) is an '08.

Hmm...maybe the listing I saw calling Kristo and '09 was talking about him being an '09 college enrollee. Thanks for the correction. Anyhow, I do think Schroeder is clearly a top 20 player in the '09 class at this point.

No offense, but I think you're out to lunch to call Schroeder a top 2 round pick at this point, let alone top ten overall.

He's listed at 5'8", 165 lbs., and has 14 points in 27 games in a mediocre (at best) Tier II league. I saw him play at the recent 4 Nations tournament, and he is no better than any of the numerous other waterbugs who've come through the NTDP over the years and become, at best, mid-round picks.

Rhett Rakhshani had roughly the same stats, roughly the same skill set, was two inches taller and was drafted in the 4th round.

I believe they gave it to Montreal for their 100th year. Or maybe it was just talked about.

This is from September. I'm not sure if it has been finalized since:

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/story/2006/09/03/canadiens-movie.html

As part of their centennial celebrations, the Canadiens are planning to retire the sweater numbers of several former players, and the team has entered bids for both the NHL all-star game and entry draft in 2009.

If this Swedish dman is not first rounder i will :damnpc:

I like his style more than Hedmans: big, STRONG,
good skater, can run power play, likes to hit people,
demands RESPECT :D

Have not seen him yet, but will this weekend. From what I have heard, skating and mobility is his flaw. Although I will be able to make my own opinion this weekend :)

Yeah, Myllari is great defenseman he must be in 1st round, though I think Hedman is greater talent, at this point I see Victor in TOP 3 in 2009 draft.

Myllari has grown up and is is 6.2 220 already. Hedman is 6.5 217 something like that.
Huge kids.:)

Yes, and that's not all. Jonathan Johansson, Hampus Gustafsson and Mathias Lindstrom are very intresting players.

i agree with what your saying, however the same could have been said for patrick kane 3 years ago too. it all depends how they develope. the ntdp u-17s have alot of talent upfront, but no clear-cut studs yet. it will be interesting to see which players elevate themselves from the pack.

Patrick Kane had well over a point per game with the U-17's and was 5'10". And I suspect that Schroeder will not be leading the WHL and the U.S. World Junior team in scoring in his draft year.

Do you Swedish guys know anything about a player named Jonathan Nilsson who plays for Frolunda?

yea but kane didnt even get an invite to the evaluation camp, and was added late in the summer. it looks like the 1990 has more scoring spreadout in 7 or 8 players, whereas the 1988 team had 3 or 4 scorers and the rest were roll players. both are similar in that they are good skaters, and have great hockey sense and can score. who knows what happens to schroeder in the next 3 years. 3 years ago people would have thought you were crazy if anyone said pat kane would challenge for 1st overall. and when kane first came in he was 5'8". im not saying this is going to happen, and probably wont, but there are some similarities, and the fact that they are late in their birth year also helps a smaller player too.
