What is the big deal about Gillies? He seems about average or above average in every respect.

Except for skating, which is exceptional. Except for size, which is big.

Zach Hamil(Everett) and Michael Repik(Vancouver) will be top 15 picks for sure, possibly top 10 depending on next season.

I think this would be Jonathan Blums draft year and the way he has played i am expecting him to shoot up the rankings big time and this draft must be loaded if Espo is not a top 2 pick

It is Drew Doughty and he is not eligible for next years draft due to his late birthday. but he is amazing! i think he could be a top 10 pick even in this years draft

He's a huge body that can skate; scouts still drool over that.

Hamill is really over-rated IMO. He got a bunch of hype by roaring out at a PPG clip in October/November '04 three years ahead of his draft year, but hasn't really taken off much since.

Small, not terribly strong. Heady player and a good playmaker, not a great shot. He only missed being eligible for this draft by a week, and there's no way in hell he would have been a top-15 pick this year. Probably would be ranked in the 25-35 range. I don't think he's quite at the level of Cory Emmerton, a quite similar player a couple months older.

Fine but I see nothing in him that could make him a number one pick. I just don't see the same upside. It was like Chipchura a couple of years ago when he was ranked number one midwway through the year.

Can anyone comment on whether 2007 looks like a quality draft? How does it compare to 2003 (excellent draft year), 2004, 2005 and this year's draft?

I'm a Blades fan and I can't see him going first. I suppose it depends entirely upon next season though. He has all the tools, hopefully he can put them together.

It's a strong draft with great depth, and stronger than this years draft.

Espo is still potentially top two but his stock has come down from the start of the year when he was playing with Radulov. He's been closer to a point a game guy without Radulov than the 2 point a game player he was with him.

Anyone remember who it was who said Espo's pace at the start of the season was due to Radulov? :teach: ;)
