I'll give you the best kept secret of the 2006 draft, Billy Sauer. Saw him in the USHL last year for Chicago, he was great in the summer at Team USA camps as well, and now is playing very well for Michigan.

Young goalie with long limbs, extremely athletic and flexible. Charismatic in aways, agressive..Kind of like MA FLeury at times.

Steve Berniers younger brother Johnathan could also go first round.

Past that i've only seen Leland Irving at the U-17 Gold medal game, he looks like a goalie worth a long look.

And JC Blanchard of the Moncton Wildcats is a big butterfly goalie in the Q, has been compared to a young Corey Crawford for what its worth.

But I really like Sauer who plays for Michigan my self.

Certainly one of the first goalies to go in the 2006 draft is Jonathan Bernier of Lewiston (QMJHL). Doing very well this season don't look at the win/lose record to much cuz the defense is underachieving a bit.

Leland Irving, Kevin Armstrong, and Dustin Butler are the three names to watch from the WHL, with Irving having a strong chance of going in the first round.

Armstrong is a real riser who's come out of nowhere in the last few weeks - was supposed to be the backup to Minnesota prospect Anton Khudobin in Saskatoon, but he's outplayed him badly and taken over the #1 spot. CHL goaltender of the week last week.

So you think the best kept secret for the draft is the starting goaltender at Michigan? Considering he was ranked by some scouting services on the early lists for the 06 draft last year not sure how he is a secret.

Really? Shucks, I knew Steve had a younger brother who was playing in the Q, I just figured it was John.

    Thanks.

He is in Red Line's 1st round and ISS's top 5 tenders. He was in the top 35 of redline as far back as the january list of 06's. So while Mckeens may have just caught on others have listed him for a long time.

Well, you're right then, not much of a secret. Top 35 is nice, but this kid has terrific upside and I think he is special.

Not a secret I guess, but my #1 goalie in the draft at this point.

Joe Palmer from the USA U-18s will be one of the first 3 goalies taken in the draft. You can take that to the bank! He is better than Sauer in my opinion and is the best competitor and mentally tough kid in the draft. Super poised and composed can change the game. I think he can be a first rounder with out a doubt. :jump:
