I still debate whether I should have taken Linsin in wheeler's spot when he was available, but overall I think that Pittsburgh would be happy with this draft:

Our final picks are three centers, and two wings, both of which happen to be positions of great need for the Pens, but were not taken for that reason, things just fell that way:

Yevgeny Malkin (C)
Blake Wheeler (C)
Adam Pineault (W)
Tim Brent (C)
Dane Byers (LW)

I don't know about pittsburgh (as a whole) being happy with the draft, but I know the FANS would :yo:

With the 120th pick, the Detroit Red Wings are proud to select defenseman Chris Zarb from Tric-City of the USHL. :jump: :handclap:

Having only the 90th and 120th picks, Detroit is extremely happy with the outcome. They feel that Blake Comeau and Chris Zarb are very underrated and will prove worthy of their selections in the future.

I'm biased of course, but I think that if the Bruins came away with those three guys in the first four rounds (they'll actually have 4 picks with the Hackett comp.), that would be good bull.

As for some other teams that impressed-

Washington ;)

Chicago- tons of picks and some good value there IMO

Pittsburgh too.

It was a fun draft. Really enjoyed doing it.

i agree with the above teams:

wash -- real decent draft
pitt -- filled a lot of needs
chi -- hopefully with all those picks, someone pans out eventually

i would like to add a couple:

minn -- got some good offensive talent
canes -- traded up to get barker and was still available to fill needs down the middle and scoring wise

Teams like Washington, Chicago, Minnesota and NYR did well just on sheer number of picks. Although NYR did make many questionable picks, such as Radulov, McGrath and even Valabik. Phoenix did really well with Olesz and Nokelainen, and later Carson, Seitsonen, Auffrey and Ellis.

St.Louis is a real winner, trading the 17th and ending up with Meszaros and Booth. Berti is a solid pick, as with Schulz. Akerlund is a great goaltender to end up with.

Again, I will say that I am content with Detroit's draft.

Montreal had a bad draft. Vagner is a waste. Pohl and Lascek are small, soft
players.
