I just slapped one together quickly for the sake of discussion. I used last year's standings as the order. Criticize away... tell me how your team doesn't need a goalie, etc. ;) By the end of it I was just throwing names next to teams.

1. Pittsburgh – C Sidney Crosby
2. Chicago - C Gilbert Brule
3. Washington - D Jack Johnson
4. Columbus – C Marek Zagrapan
5. Phoenix – RW Bobby Ryan
6. NY Rangers – LW Benoit Pouliot
7. Florida – LW Guillaume Latendresse
8. Carolina – G Tuukka Rask
9. Anaheim – D Marc Staal
10. Atlanta – C Alex Bourret
11. Los Angeles – C Ryan O’Marra
12. Minnesota – G Carey Price
13. Buffalo – D Jakub Kindl
14. Edmonton – RW Devin Setoguchi
15. Nashville – C Anze Kopitar
16. NY Islanders – RW Nicklas Bergfors
17. St. Louis – C Jack Skille
18. Montreal – D Ryan Parent
19. Calgary – LW Ryan Stoa
20. Dallas – LW Kenndal McArdle
21. Colorado – D Luc Bourdon
22. New Jersey – D Matt Lashoff
23. Philadelphia – D Teemu Laakso
24. Vancouver – C Chris Durand
25. Ottawa – G Jean-Philippe Levasseur
26. Toronto – RW Michael Blunden
27. Boston – LW Martin Hanzal
28. San Jose - D Brendan Mikkelson
29. Detroit – D Brian Lee
30. Tampa Bay – G Alexandre Vincent

Isles are weak on bluechip lw prospects and defensive prospects.Kind of hard to see how they'd take another rw instead of addressing these team needs.

I really don't see the Flames picking a "USA" player for their 1st round under Sutter's new western regime. Also, I don't see the Flames taking a LW unless he is downright amazing as we have Chuko (last year) and Nystrom ready for the NHL or very close. If anything the Flames need some youth on the RW side. After Kobasew and possibly Tardiff (not sure about making it), we don't have much for prospects on the right side. Donovan and Clark are that young anymore either.

Well... here is the solution. The Isles fan doesn't want a RW, and the Flames fan doesn't want a LW.

So give Stoa to NYI and Bergfors to Calgary.

I'd much prefer Bourdon in a habs Jersey than Parent. Kindl would also be nice.

Yep.

I like the offensive upside of Bourdon.I'm worry about Parent offensive upside though. The habs need a good offensive defenceman , Bourdon would be a great fit there.I doubt , Setoguchi will be picked before Kopitar.

Not a bad list though.

Yeah, you beat me to it. I would much rather have Bourdon than Parent. Haven't seen much of the Guelph Storm, but when I see Bourdon, I love what I see. That being said, Bourdon at 21? I doubt he will be that low. He's ISS ranked 4. He'll probably be top 10. If he was still there at 18 where Mtl picks (theoretically), he would be snapped up ahead of Parent. Also, I doubt Bourret would go as high as 10. He's good, but I doubt top 10.

I'm torn as to who I'd rather have between Parent and Bourdon.

While CSB has Bourdon at #4 for NA, McKeen's has him at #31 overall.

Yeah true, I don't get why he's rated so low. Wasen't Latendresse in the 60's a month ago? Can't remeber which one it was but 60? That was a little ridiculous. Sorry to be vague, but I can't find which one it was.

Personally though, I'd rather have Bourdon, I like his leadership, effort and his upside. He's already 3X his production from last year and I don't think he'll slow down. But again, I've seen him more than Parent so I can't really say I can judge them 100% equally.

Edit- Okay I found where it was. It was CSS Mid-Term Rankings for NA Skaters, January 2005. Guillaume Latendresse was no. 67. I didn't understand that one at all.

I don't think Carolina would take a goalie with Cam Ward already waiting in the wings

I prefer Parent who I have ranked at 16 and Bourdon at 22 (If some people haven't seen it yet, I have a top 50 that I put up a few days ago). Bourdon has more upside but I prefer Parent's skating and his smarts.

McKeens has Bourdon rated lower because they question his mental game.

I have trouble seeing which teams would select goalies... possibly Phoenix. Their actual draft position will likely go up from number 5 if there is a season this year. It all depends on how they determine the order.

9. Anaheim – D Marc Staal

Good choice :handclap:

Ducks would like to add another good d-man prospect to go with Smid.

They have a lot of good young forwards so this makes sense. (Perry, Getzlaf, Lupul, Chistov, etc.)

im just coming back from the Gatineau Olympiques against Val d'Or Foreurs and Luc Bourdon was just incredible. He was physical all game and even won REALLY easy a fight after a guy touched the goalie. Im sure that André Savard and Pierre Dorion were really impressed by what they saw tonight.

I honestly think(maybe it's wishful thinking but I got a gut feeling..hahaha) Washington's team will be so bad this year it wouldn't even be able to make it out of the first round of the AHL playoffs...Thus leading me to believe they will get either Crosby or Brule.

Think about it we have very few players that would play in the NHL level if they were in any other system...4-5 at most.

Kolzig - recently went overseas, will probably come back.
Zubrus - not even under contract if I'm not mistaken
Halpern - just lost his grandmother in an accident, back in the US, would probably play
Semin - His shoulder is hurt he's not playing, not to mention he was suspended by the Washington organization when he failed to report to Portland of the AHL rather than head to Russia.

I guess if you wanted you could call Eminger NHL ready but he's gonna be relied on as a top pairing D-man more than likely. The team we ice is gonig to be an absolute laughing stock. If we win 5-7 game's it'd be a miracle.

Here's a list of what we have returning from last year as of regular players.. the rest will be fill in's from waivers or called up from Portland.(who's playing like crap as well).

Halpern
Peat
Pettinger
Semin?
Verot
Whitfield
Willsie?
Zubrus?

Witt
Boumedienne
Doig

A shortened season is best case scenario for us, esp. if we can get AO and Semin over and add to their experience. This year is too short to get used to losing.
