Heck no. I would take Martin over Jaromir any day. I don't even think it's close.

Its definetly close........ Jagr is probably the best offensive talent the NHL has seen since Gretz and Mario.

Brodeur probably would go first though, based on the team picking first and the goalies they had at that point.

3 years ago, noone would have picked Brodeur over Jagr.

Three years ago Brodeur wasn't the best goaltender in hockey. I am sure alot of people would pick Patrick Roy or Dominik Hasek(the guys who were the best at the time) over Jagr.

When everyone in this draft is retired, and their careers may be reflected upon without the bias of present day happenings affecting said evaluation, Jagr will be almost unanimously viewed as the best player of this draft class.

Pretty bold statement considering Brodeur is on the upswing and Jagr is on the downward spiral. I highly doubt Jagr will be the hands down best player of this draft when he will spend the rest of his prime years playing on weak ranger teams while Brodeur will break Roy's records.

Jagr over Brodeur. Period.

Jagr can produce in any situation.
Put Brodeur on a team that isn't the devils, he is still a great goalie. But not elite. Brodeur is the most overrated player in the game right now. Luongo definately should have gotten the Vezina this year, Marty didn't deserve it one bit.

If you look at the quality of shots Brodeur faces during any given game, you'll see why his GAA is as low as it has been. If you face 2-3 real scoring chances a game, you aren't going to have many goals allowed by the end of the season. Stopping 18 shots from the blueline a night doesn't make you a spectacular goalie. Everyone in the NHL knows it.

Totally agree, its too hard to judge this until everyone has packed it in. Lokk at a guy like Primeau who may be really coming on later in his career. Its just too hard to say at this time although i would say Jagr over Brodeur right now.

had jagr continued his pace from his first 11 seasons, i think he wins out against brodeur. but dipping so dramatically at age 30 cannot be seen as a good thing. brodeur is still his amazing self, which gives him the edge.

Agreed! I'd still go with Brodeur number 1...

I kno he's had an incredible career.. I wonder why he went that low?
no exposure?
Back then it was just after 1989 and I think many players didnt come to USA to play. They scouted him at one game and then he was talked with by an agent from WSH. Then they drafted him and you know the rest.
