Damn it stinks that we won this playoff game so we can't get a guy with 4 points since January back in the lineup

Ehhh.... I understand the appeal. He’d replace STAFFORD who shanked a couple of nice scoring chances last game and maybe Bratt at least gets a shot off. But I give credit to Hynes for knowing that at some point the game would get ugly and Stafford is been there done that in such situations.

Well if it's one thing that Stafford is good at, it's being ugly at everything while remaining invisible. :sarcasm:

It's quite the feat.

Well....it's more than likely the final game of the postseason and while I pray it won't be and the Devils find a way to pull it off, I think now is the time to put Bratt in.

It would be absolutely ridiculous to have him Healthy-Scratched all playoffs long while his fellow peer(Nico) got all the run.

BTW, "we can't get a guy with 4 points since January back in the lineup". Hey @HenriquesJawLine , that's 4 points more than Stafford has scored all postseason.

Play Bratt, Hynes. Stafford sucks(always did) and there's nothing left to lose now.

I agree. Second half was poop, but he’s a big reason we were able to maintain a playoff spot the first half. Plus a kid with self proclaimed confidence issues, this may help his confidence for the off season. Hell, maybe he comes in and scores a hatty. It can’t hurt at this point.

I'm fine with him getting into the game Saturday if it happens, but I am not acting like its some sort of outrage that he hasn't played

Bratt's decision making slowed down significantly the 2nd half of the year. Tampa is a team that preys on mistakes in your own end.

I don't like Stafford (or Hayes obviously) either, but lets not act like Bratt was playing well and benched

agree. it would be nice to get him a game for experience. but at the end of the day, you have to go with what gives you the best chance to win this time of year. and i dont know that he falls within that right now.

Strange that there is so much criticism of this team's toughness, yet many calls for Hynes to dress the most fragile player on the team.
We've got more than enough toughness. Out lineup now lacks speed and skill, something we had in spades all year long. Bratt and Gibbons both bring that, along with defensive awareness.

Keeping Bratt out of the lineup is beyond stupid.

not sure if you were watching games but no one on our team got pushed off the puck more easily or turned it over more in the 2nd half of the season than bratt. he's not going to be the difference maker. and i love bratt! he just hit a wall which isn't crazy or alarming or anything, just needs to put more work in over the summer

You're thinking of first-half Jesper Bratt. Bratt was unable to keep it going over the course of a full season. It's not his fault, it's just that he's small and had never played more than 48 games in a season - and that was against a much lower quality of competition.

Keeping Bratt - who has a total of four points since January and would get eaten alive in this series - out of the lineup is justified.

I don’t think anyone is saying he would come in and be a game changer, it’s just frustrating that someone who is equally undeserving and has done nothing the ENTIRE season (Stafford) is afforded the opportunity while Bratt is not.

Then perhaps it's because Stafford is bigger and more experienced.

Wanting him on the 4th line does not help your case

It’s not like any of the other realistic options add to team toughness. Bratt, Hayes, Stafford, Grabner, Gibbons, throw them in a hat and pick one for all I care though I’d rather not see Grabner again on principle. He’s been a dog basically since getting here and playing the wing side he asked to be on to boot. I’d rather just have any of the other four in, at least they’ll play like they care.

Not based on their minutes per point in February and March.
I’m in too bad of a mood today to get into a pissing match. I fully understand that Bratt has looked like dog shit for the second half, but Stafford has looked like dog shit the entire season and was pretty much out of the league. In November, we were taking about Bratt being one of the best draft steals in recent history and I can’t see why giving him one game is going to kill us.

He has shown game-breaking ability, albeit it hasn’t been in a few months, but maybe (a small chance) he could come in and make a difference. Yes he’s small and probably not suited for this series, but there’s about a half dozen other players you can say that about.

We can disagree without it being a pissing match. My only point is that Bratt has been so gassed in the second half that he has been outproduced by Drew Stafford.

I would understand if they wanted to take a chance on him, but I also understand why they haven't.

I would rather Stafford be in if they didn't feel so compelled to use him on the power play. He literally does nothing on the power play, he's went 22 games (I think it is now?) without a power play point, if I'm not mistaken.

He also did things to kill it in game 3, because his skills have completely eroded.

First half Jesper was running hot, and due for a cool off. But he shot at 3% during that cold stretch, was taken off the PP, and was playing less than 14 mins per night.
