What tournaments are there that feature the best 15-17 year old talent? I know there's the U-17s and U-18s, but how many different U-17 tournaments are there for example?

I believe there's only one U-18 tourny, but not positive.

Thanks for any help

Well, last summer there was the U-18 4 nations tournament, sometimes there's the 8 nations cup (every springtime). There's the Canada games which basically showcases canadian talent between the ages of 15-17.

I'm not sure if there are any international tournaments for 15-17 year olds.

The Mac's AAA Midget Tournament is probably the best you'll get of just 15-17 year olds though.

There are actually a bunch of U17 and U18 tournaments (even some U16 as well). The Europeans are constantly having tournaments at all age levels that most North American fans don't even realize are happening.

The US participates in 3 U17 tournaments (1 with a select team, 2 with the NTDP U17 team) and 5 U18 tournaments (1 with a select team, 3 with the NTDP U18 team, and one with the NTDP U17 team).

Canada tends to stick to the major tournaments that have already been mentioned in this thread.

For high-profile stuff, here is what Canada offers for the 15-17 age group...

Mac's Midget Tournament: Annual event in Calgary.
Hockey Canada National Midget Championship: 2005 event is hosted by Gatineau, PQ.

During the summer, you should be able to find information on provincial and regional U17 camps, which are tryouts for the annual Hockey Canada U17 Challenge. Every 4 years, however, those camps are strictly provincial due to the Canada Games. The U17 World Challenge does not take place during those years.

I assume you are looking for the real top end tournaments, but there are also a number of very solid lesser tournaments that some outstanding players playing in them. Some of those tournaments include:

Big Nickel Tournament - Sudbury, Ontario
Carlo's Classic - Oshawa, Ontario
Green and Gold Classic - London, Ontario
Steel City Tournament - Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Kewadin Casinos - Soo, Michigan

These are all tournaments that I've been a part of for a few seasons now and I've seen some real good talent coming out of them. Worth a look if you leave near them.

Last year's U-17 result:
1.Ontario
2.Team Pacific
3.Quebec

Canadian hockey is safe

every province in canada runs their own selection camps for U-15, U-16 and then U-17 is by region. I've bveen through the process. The under 15's and 16's go to Bathrust New Brunswick for the Atalntic Challenge Cup. That's where Sheppard played last year.

There's also a great tournament in Drummondville quebec in february for midget players. It reaches the euros as well with team s from russia , germany etc... coming.

I don't know how it works back east, but I do know the U17 is still provincial for the Pacific region.

BC and Alberta hold separate camps, and instead of choosing a full team (like they do in Canada Games years), each province selects 10 players, and that forms Team Pacific.

It's the same out east. Originall there's separate camps for each province, but then 20 players from each province are selcted and they go to another camp to make up team atlantic.
