Don't care what any fan says. No matter how scrawny the kid is, if he's THAT good, he plays in the NHL after being drafted. Even the worst management teams know what they have.

I will be watching Pettersson's rookie season closely.

I think of it more like Hall realizes that Nico didn't hesitate to step in and stick up for a player in his first NHL game against a pretty big dude in Johnson.

Those are the kinds of things from an 18 year old that makes the veterans better. Even something like Hischier playing a total 200 foot game. It must make Hall realize 'if this kid is doing it, I have no excuse not to do it'.

Nico played through a wrist injury (same one?) for the latter part of his year in Halifax too. Hope he can get that healed up this summer.

This sense of enthusiasm to me is part of what prompted NJ to select him first. He’s more than an exciting young player. He’s a future face of the franchise and will generate new fans and sell some tickets as a fan friendly outgoing and engaged player. He’s easy to root for. Compare that with a Marchand. Great player but what parent wants their kid to admire him?
