May be time to elevate Demko for a look.....I mean how can he be any worse?....playing the entire season backstopping what amounts to an ECHL team in Utica won't do a thing for his development. They need to find out how he'll respond to facing NHL shooters. And if the Canucks are plummeting in the standings and basically out of it by late January, what does it matter?

Travis Green needs to go. Just heard his presser. He’s “not concerned with effort or execution ....”

We gave up almost 50 shots against tonight and let in a touchdown.

When will he be concerned? When we give up 70 shots a game?

Bad players can try their hardest and execute a plan to the best of their ability and still be bad

Yup. Can't fault a guy like Chaput for not trying. He's just not...good enough.

I like that Green isn't faulting their effort. The players (with a few notable exceptions...) are trying. The skill level just isn't there. It isn't the coaching, or the systems, or the preparedness of the guys. It's just...roster construction.

Hopefully Aquilini gets that message loud and clear.

we beat this same team three weeks ago.

people need to stop panicking. we are missing the only young in his prime forward we have who drives play and it has exposed the fact all our spare parts are complimentary players, none of our other prospects drive play at this stage in their development and the sedins are really old. the team is paying the price of that and maybe some overdue bad breaks and getting demoralized. the coach is trying to keep them in a safe space. the edges are fraying especially when we play a really good team.

sounds like what we all expected before training camp. it's been very useful to have it revealed how horvat and boeser were propping up a house of cards so we didn't get cocky.

i still think the solution is to have willie guest coach though. i am not sure how long green can maintain the charade that this is a serious nhl team.

It wasn't poorly constructed..What did you expect to happen when you take Horvat,Baertschi,Sutter,Dorsett (now Tanev) all out of your roster in quick succession?..
yeah, if we had the game-changing abilities of Sutter and Baertschi we'd sure be looking a lot more competitive! Only a top 9 forward away!

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Horvat and Tanev are actual losses, but if the GM doesn't have the depth to compensate for a 22 year old 60 point player and a good defensive defensemen he's done an objectively poor job constructing the team.

(we've had Tanev for the past 4 games and still look like garbage btw)

Not to mention that we have been completely reliant on a rookies wildly impressive offense carrying us. Where would we be if he wasn't scoring? This team has been flying by the seat of its pants (as it does at the start of every year since The Benning) and now we get to see the result as it aimlessly skids off the road. Nothing new though, this crash has been on-going for years now.

Forget Boeser - where would this playoff competitive well-constructed team be if Derek Dorsett hadn’t had a freak run of goal scoring luck the start the season? The entire premise that this team, when healthy, is some kind of well-built real playoff team hinges on the completely f***ing deranged idea that Dorsett’s run was his normal performance.

So we can continue to miss on 2/3rds of our top 6 picks? Because there are going to be more high picks in this teams future if this management team isn't turfed before the deadline.
Well hes done well in later rounds and plus usually the gm decides the top pick

This was not a good game.

Nilsson... gut punch.

I kinda think he should start next game tho. I think it would be the right thing to do to help cement the goaltending situation...

He has another similar outing... ok, Marky's starting the rest of the way 4 to 1.
He bounces back - reestablishes confidence in himself most important... and the coaches/team's confidence in him. Gets opportunity to wipe it away and not have it sit with him for another week + before getting back in.

But it is at the point where when Green annouces the starting goalie, whoever it is will be met with a completely 'meh' reaction. Don't have any faith in either one as anything more than a stop gap.
Good games here and there, some good numbers.. ... littered with back breaking goals..

Anyone know if Miller wants to come back?

if Boeser was playing in the AHL this year this team is at the bottom of the league right now

Recency bias with the goaltenders, I cannot state this enough.

Our 5v5 save percentage is 10th in the league even after this fiasco. It's one area where we are actually good at. Goaltending is this teams strength so far through the season, not weakness.
But what's been consistent ALL of Markstrom's career and this season is his tendency to let in back breakers... or just poorly timed goals despite putting up good numbers.

Nilsson... good numbers this yr (at one time)... but same thing.

That and Nilsson is a .940+ goalie.

I'd bring him back just to flip him for a top 10 pick!

Watch this:

That's nothing new. Classic Canucks. Our captain and leader Henrik doesn't seem to upset by it. He's laughing and smiling while talking to Josi and the ref at the end of the clip. That right there is our looser culture in a nutshell.

The most embarrassing loss of the year and the young teammates are getting pushed around and our captain doesn't even seem the least bit rattled

This team wont have backbone as long as the Sedins are part of the leadership group. They have always been soft but at least they used to be good. They suck now and they are still soft as ever. Time to move on from them.

Canucks have the biggest goaltending tandem in the league....but just goes to prove there's a lot more to goaltending than just being 'big' in the net...that's what made Miller so effective....only 165 pounds soaking wet, but with his ability to read the play and anticipate where shots were coming from, he made it looks easy at times......that's why you have great hope for Demko and especially DiPietro.....may not have the size....but both have great gloves and a keen ability to move before the shot is actually taken.

What are you talking about? Please elaborate. Nothing I said is wrong
Well other than the misspelling of a very simple word, loser. Your whole schtick on almost every post youve ever made here is about toughness, acting tough, calling out players for not responding etc.

People won't admit it but Dorsett, Sutter and Guds are a big part of our leadership now. Horvat too obviously.

That's not a good thing...
Regardless of their leadership, they just aren't difference makers. These leaders would be leading us into defeat after defeat if they were healthy.
