'Yotes collapse is a cautionary tale....Domi and Duclair struggling mightily in their second seasons....hard to understand why guys who show so much flash in their rookie seasons, seem to hit the wall in the second....unless your name is McDavid, it seems to happen to every young guy all over the league....I know playing rookies is the popular thing around the NHL these days, but in terms of player development, you have to wonder whether it's the best approach.
In the first year, a player comes in with nothing to lose, no real expectations and basically flies under the radar.
By season 2, expectations start to develop both internally and externally. The player is also now on the radar of every team. There is video to study and weaknesses to identify and exploit.
