SABRES RECALL BAILEY FROM AMERKS

BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 15, 2017) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Justin Bailey from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Bailey (6’4”, 214 lbs., 7/1/1995) currently leads the Amerks with two goals and is tied for the team lead with a plus-2 rating through three games in 2017-18. Last season, the Williamsville, New York native ranked third among Rochester skaters with 23 goals and finished the campaign with 36 points (23+13) in 52 AHL contests.

Bailey brings an element we need.... speed and size. Who cares if his hands don’t match. Seems like Hyman has carved out a nice role for himself getting the puck for Matthews and Nylander. Drives Leafs fan crazy but what does Babcock know about hockey.

Good, he should have never went down. Neither should Baptiste or Guhle. This team lacks talent. You can work with talent, you can't work with crap. This Botterill approach, which I have been against from the start, is just going to set this team back more. You can't put talent in the AHL when your NHL team doesn't have talent. A littler different than Pittsburgh.

They didn’t earn the spots. If they should have been here they should have had better camps. Botterill or no...they didn’t beat out Seth freaking Griffith for a spot. And everyone saw that. Everyone in the room. Everyone covering the team. Everyone in the front office. Everyone watching as fans. They had opportunity staring them in the face and they wilted.

This team was a dumpster fire in preseason and is a dumpster fire now. No one earned anything in preseason. Every decision was based on prior year experience.

Starting Guhle in Buffalo would have been foolish. He looks timid and overwhelmed defensively in Rochester and hasn’t shown his offensive talents yet. He would have been in a very bad place had he started with the Sabres.

They wanted Bailey to take a roster spot. They sent Fasching down before him despite Fasching looking better in the prospects tourney and the preseason. But Bailey still couldn't win a spot. He went scoreless in preseason when all he had to do was something - anything - to be on the opening night roster.
