So now that we've seen his number on the real Reebok, it's not a jersey foul to put his name/number on one!
Hynes' mentions Nico needs to work on conditioning and preparedness between now and camp
I hope someone is telling Hynes the same thing.
Love that jersey. And now it's not a jersey foul to own that one. Buy Reebok!
Everyone might hate me for this, but I think Hischier should go back to the Q for a year. His skills, skating, intelligence, etc. are all there, but I just don't think anyone should be in the NHL at 6'2 175... that's crazy. Unless the Devils have someone that can put some mass on him in a hurry, I really think he needs to be at least 190, preferably 200, and I don't know how you put 15-25 pounds on him between now and October.
I'll happily eat crow if I turn out to be wrong, but is anyone in the NHL at that height/weight?

He's basically 180 right now plus he has a few months to add to that. Smaller players have succeeded recently, it's not out of this world for Nico to play at that size. The way the NHL is trending favours Nico. Smaller, highly skilled players are making big impacts on teams.
He isn't even that small. We talk like he is 5'9"
Yup. He needs to put on some muscle but otherwise he's at an average size. Nothing to be concerned about.

It actually reminds me very much of all the concerns about Parise's size before he made the NHL.

5'11 186 is a lot bigger than 6'1 or 6'2 (I've seen both numbers) and 176 or 179 (again, seen both numbers).
I guess we'll see. I have a feeling that's going to stay with the big club no matter what. Again, I'll be happy to be wrong here.
It means Hischier has more room to add size and muscle than Parise did at the same age. Parise's NHL weight ended up being ~195. They're also stylistically different; Parise is an elite grinder, Hischier relies on elusive puck-possession and thus needs the weight less to be effective.5'11 186 is a lot bigger than 6'1 or 6'2 (I've seen both numbers) and 176 or 179 (again, seen both numbers).

We shouldn't be concerned about his size.
