The staff didn't use Rooney on the PK almost at all.

This team also had a 6 game losing streak before the injuries. Stafford hasn't done much, and Hayes isn't a suitable fill in when injuries occur.

And we do have players in the AHL that would be better fill ins than hayes and Stafford and would make a bit more sense than rooney, who was called up and who's strength wasn't even utilized much if at all during last nights game.

agreed on rooney. that call-up wasn’t going to help us win last night. I’m sure they had their reasons for calling him up vs someone with some offensive ability, but it certainly wasn’t motivated by the desire to bring in an impactful player that would have changed last night’s outcome. the comments from the staff someone posted elsewhere certainly support that.

to put it another way, we basically called him up because rod pelley isn't on the team anymore.
