I watched the game with the sound turned off last night just to "watch" the game, how come all our players fall down so much? Its not the ice, Nashville skaters looked fine

One thing that stood out to me was that the NJ passing accuracy could be better. NJ players too often seemed to pass where the player was rather than where he would be forcing a pass recipient to slow down or have to adjust making it easier for the defense to get in position.

the problem is that even when the team plays "good games" they lose. so it's not good enough for them to just play the right way at this point they need to dig deeper and figure out a way to score, to stop the other team from scoring, to stick up for themselves and teammates and act like they're season is on the line and play with urgency

This comes from Tao who watches Bingo, and Kowalksi publicly called JQ out for being inconsistent.

Two bad signs.
To be clear.

Kowalsky said without naming names inconsistency and maturity (it's a young team and I'm not surprised that older players with better recent performances in Lappin and Rooney were given looks before JQ) were issues for the team. I said Quenneville tends to put up multi-point games against weaker AHL teams (relative to the AHL not to Binghamton) such as Belleville and Springfield then disappear (from the scoresheet) for stretches. I consider that inconsistent. JQ needs to improve his strength. He gets knocked around on the ice. His shoulder injury earlier in the season is evidence of that. That he is targeted shows respect from other teams that he is an offensive threat to be intimidated and knocked off his game.

I expect Quenneville to finish the year in NJ especially if Binghamton does not show significant improvement in the second half. Binghamton is currently 18 points out of the last playoff spot. JQ needs to be around a better atmosphere and a higher level to develop. He is counted on to be a points leader in Binghamton like he was last year. He is on pace to finish above last year's goals totals but below last year's assists totals. He's played 29 games. There are 35 games remaining. He played 58 AHL games last season. He had 14 goals (5 ES) last season. He has 10 (5 ES) this season which puts him on pace for 22. He had 32 assists last season. He has 11 this season which puts him on pace for about 24. He's had lower performing linemates this season in Kennedy vs. Coleman and Bastian vs. Lappin. His points per game percentage is down from .79 to .72.

yeah we were off the mark passing for sure, but I noticed players making a solo rush into the "O" zone and wiping out on their own, it happened to Palms ans Nico plus others. I dont know whats going on with our team right now !

Probably a conglomeration of things all hitting at once. Injuries to key players, struggling goalies, young players getting tired, coaches not adapting, lack of depth with skill players, players pressing and playing tight because of the aforementioned problems. Hopefully the weekend off will allow players to regroup a bit and find a second wind. I think if Hall can come back healthy at some point next week that will make the biggest difference. The effort against Boston and NASH was there but the lack of skill was evident. Hall makes Nico and Bratt better instantly.

This... each player is trying to do too much, like squeezing their sticks, their minds need a break

I’d rather the slump now than in March for sure.

There's a 6-game road swing in March that has the potential to put a nail in the Devils coffin. Nashville, Vegas, then the west coast swing of LA, Anaheim and San Jose and back east in Pitt. Just for good measure, Tampa comes in after Pitt on the second of a back to back. Not good.

Anyone killing Shero is just nuts. It really isn't that long ago that this team was looking like a hopeless basket case. He did an amazing job putting together a team that is still very likely to make the playoffs. Oh, and he also pretty much stole a franchise player to build around as well. I wish we had 5 years of him instead of Terrible Tim Murray.

Might as well pack it in I guess.

That game was vomit inducing in person.

18-rows up, it was not pretty.

So much was wrong other than I thought Apples started well, Rooney can skate.

Bad timing on my part for tickets.

PS: that new screen is incredible

I can't see any posts killing Shero.

But anyone killing Shero is incapable of seeing the big picture.

There aren't any posts killing him. But if the team continues this losing streak and we keep dressing Hayes and Stafford and call up grinder type of players from the AHL instead of guys with a bit more offensive skill, then he should start to get some of the blame for this team collapsing again.

We had literally 5 regulars out of the lineup last night (6 if you include Mueller). Rooney is an excellent penalty killer and a high motor player ala Gibbons

no team is going to have players that can easily replace not 1 but 2 top 6 players.

Remember, we also played the defending Western conference champs last night who have arguably the best D corps in the league.

if you even THINK that this is Shero's fault, I don't know what to say. This team wasn't even supposed to be in the spot they are in now this year.

I don't think anyone's criticizing Shero 'now'...I think some posts were getting a little bit ahead of things last night, the point was that if things didn't improve by the end of next year or the year after that then you could start to criticize Shero, not that he should be getting criticism atm.

I do think the argument that “we shouldn’t be here” falls flat this far into the season.

Expectations change now that we have a better idea of the team and the talent level.

Not making the playoffs would be a massive disappointment when they were a second place team for a full half season. No “this was a rebuilding year” changes that IMO.

They raised the bar. They need to now find a way to keep it up.

The staff didn't use Rooney on the PK almost at all.

This team also had a 6 game losing streak before the injuries. Stafford hasn't done much, and Hayes isn't a suitable fill in when injuries occur.

And we do have players in the AHL that would be better fill ins than hayes and Stafford and would make a bit more sense than rooney, who was called up and who's strength wasn't even utilized much if at all during last nights game.
